toyota corolla xse 2026 exterior oem 02 jpg

The Toyota Corolla is a testament to the wide appeal of fuss-free, reliable and efficient transportation. Despite 2025 being the current generation’s sixth model year since a major redesign, it was among the bestselling vehicles in the U.S. for the 2024 calendar year, landing in 12th place. For 2026, Toyota isn’t changing much beyond dropping the 2025 sedan’s sporty-looking FX Edition (though it does join the list of trims for the ’26 hatchback); the automaker is just sweetening the deal with standard blind spot monitors and rear cross-traffic alert across the lineup, as well as a new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster on the XSE and hybrid XLE trim levels. The 2026 Toyota Corolla starts at $23,920 (all prices include $1,195 destination charge).

Release Date and Pricing

The 2026 Toyota Corolla and Corolla Hybrid sedans will go on sale in the fall. Prices increase slightly from the 2025 model’s, with the gas-powered sedan climbing $400 and the hybrids jumping by $750. Full pricing is as follows, with all-wheel drive available on the hybrid LE and SE trims for $1,400 extra:

Sedan

  • LE: $23,920
  • SE: $26,360
  • XSE: $29,635

Hybrid

  • LE: $25,770
  • SE: $28,210
  • XLE: $30,135

What Are the 2026 Toyota Corolla’s Trim Levels?

For less than half of what the average new car costs today, the entry-level Corolla LE rides on 16-inch steel wheels and features LED front and rear lighting. Inside you’ll find manually adjustable cloth seats, six speakers and an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In addition to the newly standard blind spot monitors and rear cross-traffic alert, every 2026 Corolla includes Toyota Safety Sense 3.0. The safety suite consists of forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure steering assist, lane-centering steering, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams and road-sign recognition. No additional safety tech is available for the 2026 Corolla.

Toyota fits the SE, XSE and all Corolla Hybrids with a more sophisticated rear suspension than the base LE for an improved ride and handling balance. The SE also gets 18-inch aluminum wheels, LED signature lighting, a unique grille and rocker panels, a rear spoiler, and keyless entry and start. Its cabin is upgraded with sport seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and metallic trim.

The XSE adds a moonroof, the new 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, synthetic leather upholstery, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, a 10.5-inch touchscreen and wireless phone charging. The XLE hybrid has all the same features without the SE/XSE sport appearance bits and rides on 16-inch aluminum wheels, which contribute to improved fuel economy.

What Are the 2026 Toyota Corolla’s Powertrain Specs and MPG?

A 169-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine making 151 pounds-feet of torque propels the regular gas-powered Corolla. It’s mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission, though the XSE gets paddles to shift through a simulated 10-speed automatic. All gas-only Corolla sedans are front-wheel drive. Toyota says the LE returns the same EPA-rated 32/41/35 mpg city/highway/combined as the 2025 model, while the SE and XSE are rated at 31/40/34 mpg (official EPA ratings for the 2026 models are not yet available).

The Corolla Hybrid is powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder and an electric motor that generate a combined 138 hp. It, too, uses a CVT, and on the LE and SE, available AWD adds a second motor to the rear axle. The front-drive LE and XLE are rated at 53/46/50 mpg, while the AWD LE returns 51/44/48 mpg. With its larger wheels, the SE returns 50/43/47 mpg with FWD and 47/41/44 mpg with AWD.
