Luther Mazda of Kansas CityReviews
2024 Mazda Mazda3 review
Previously we have owned a 2016 Mazda Hatchback with the 2.0 liter engine and manual transmission. Our biggest complaint with that car was the lack of power. We were not expecting a performance car, but the 2 liter engine in that car was just anemic. My wife didn't feel safe trying to pull out into traffic. We recently purchased a 2024 Mazda 3 Premium with 2.5 liter engine and manual transmission. While still not feeling like a sports car (it is not one) it does have considerably more torque than the 2016 we owned previously. Things we like about the 2024 model: - the bump in power - fuel economy - the interior. the seats are somewhat firm, but comfy. The dash is nicely layed out - the buttons on the console are useful - heater/AC controls are buttons and knobs - easy to use - the heater fan! We have had several Mazdas, and the fan has always been underpowered. the fan in this car is adequate - two driver settings that will put the seat in the correct position, as well as let you set the brightness of the heads up display - seat heaters Things we don't like: - auto sensing wipers. the only way to use the intermittent wipers is with the 'auto' setting, and it operates properly only intermittently at best - the door for the gas filler. it is not difficult, but if you don't know how to do it, you may need to google (what I had to do at the gas station) - Fully electric parking brake - I would prefer a manually operated brake. - The pedal area is somewhat narrow. I have somewhat wide feet, so I have to keep that in mind, as some shoes make driving cumbersome. The reliability question was required, which is a rather lame requirement when one has owned a car for a month. I gave it 3 stars as I have no idea yet as to the reliability.

I purchased my Mazda CX-5 in 2019 before it was Luther's. I was not impressed with that aspect a lot of errors. But the service department has always been great. When I call to schedule an appointment for Maintenace, they always work with my time frame. Service department employees are friendly, and I know everything will be taken care of.

BMW MINI of Shawnee Mission review
Brayden was wonderful to work with throughout the buying process; very knowledgeable about the vehicle and the technical specifications. His follow-up is awesome, keeps me updated on the process of getting the windows tinted. Reggie in finance was great as well; he outlined the details of the lease and ensured that I was pleased with the terms. Overall, it was an absolute pleasant experience.
2016 MINI Hardtop review
After 23 years of driving minivans and SUVs, I was ready for a change. I love my 2016 Mini Cooper S 4 door. with the 6 speed manual transmission. Car is great to drive, gets okay mileage (25+mpg) and is surprisingly practical.

Hendrick Chevrolet Shawnee MissionReviews
Hendrick Chevrolet Shawnee Mission review
5/5 Stars – The Gold Standard of Car Buying and Service in Kansas City I rarely take the time to write reviews, but the team at Hendrick Chevrolet Shawnee Mission in Merriam earned every single star. If you’ve spent any time shopping for a vehicle, you know how exhausting, stressful, and opaque the process can be at most dealerships. Hendrick Chevrolet completely shatters that stereotype from the second you walk through their showroom doors. Flawless Initial Communication & Inventory My experience started online. Inquiring about a vehicle on the web usually means getting bombarded with automated spam, but their Business Development and internet sales team reached out promptly, answered specific inventory questions with zero runaround, and confirmed vehicle availability immediately. When I arrived for my appointment, the vehicle was pulled up, detailed, and ready for a test drive. Attentive, Low-Pressure Sales Team The sales staff took the time to understand exactly what features, trim levels, and towing capabilities mattered most to me rather than trying to push whatever happened to be sitting on the lot the longest. There were no high-pressure tactics, no hovering, and no uncomfortable games—just transparent product knowledge, patience, and clear respect for my time. Streamlined Trade-In & Financing The trade-in evaluation was straightforward and fair right off the bat, aligning with real market data without requiring three rounds of back-and-forth negotiations. When moving over to the Finance Department, the entire paperwork workflow was efficient and clearly explained. Every line item, warranty option, and financing tier was laid out cleanly with zero hidden dealer fees or last-minute surprises. A Modern, Professional Service Facility Beyond the sales floor, the dealership’s facility itself is immaculate, comfortable, and well-organized. Their service lane runs like a well-oiled machine, and the advisors and GM certified technicians treat customer vehicles with genuine care. It’s clear that management has built a culture centered on long-term relationships rather than quick one-off transactions. If you are looking for a new Chevrolet or a quality pre-owned vehicle anywhere in the KC metro, skip the headaches and start at Hendrick Chevrolet Shawnee Mission. They have earned my business and my highest recommendation.
2024 Mitsubishi Mirage review
I downsized from a 2014 Subaru Forester I had for 10 years, purchasing a 2-year old Mirage SE with a whopping 4000 miles on it. It’s a beautiful tiny car, as loaded as can be, and averages 40 mpg. It works great in the city and on the highway and is a little cocoon of amenities. The visibility out the front window was a bit challenging to get used to due to the black box. And despite only being 5’4” I sit really high to the windscreen. Otherwise the interior fits me great — being aware this is not a car built for bigger people or those needing to haul more than 2 people and some groceries (although I do plan to take it camping), I love the styling and overall zippiness. It was priced very well for the model. This will be a long-term vehicle for me and I’m very pleased a month in.

Experience was pretty seamless but was extraordinarily long for the closing of the purchase. We did enjoy the camaraderie of the staff there. Internet experience with Shiann Knowles was wonderful. She was very prompt and friendly in answering my questions prior to our viewing of the vehicle. Jakob was helpfull when my son inspected the car.
2021 Honda Civic review
After buying Toyota vehicles for years, I found out that they were outsourcing their CVT’s and Honda was making their own CVT’s and after driving a new Toyota Corolla and then a new Honda Civic, I was more impressed with the Honda Civic. My three previous cars were Toyota Corolla’s and I loved them. I am very happy with my 2021 Honda Civic EX and I would not hesitate to recommend Honda.

Excellent Dealership . I work with Johnnie and he was very patient and work with me every step of the way. He was honest about the vehicles and knew what he was taking about. He made sure we walk away with a good deal. Coming back to shop for my sons car next year!!!
2025 Honda Civic review
I traded in a 2017 Honda CR-V Touring because it was going to to cost more to fix the major issues (as a second owner I did not know the CR-V had that many things wrong). I put money down on the Civic Sport that I was going to use for the repairs. I do have to say it's a nice car and I hope it will last longer than I expect. That being said I didn't want to buy another Honda but I did go to a dealership that I trust more than anybody else. I will come back and further my review once I have 5,000 miles on it.

2026 Mazda Mazda3 review
Bought 26' Mazda 3 hatchback Premium 6spd. While this car occupies a niche segment, a manual transmission car (not a CUV), it is a practical daily commuter car that also brings some driving joy to my enthusiast side. This model has been around since 2019 but still looks like it could have been a new model release. The interior is one of the nicest in the segment. All places touched frequently are covered in soft plastics or leather. The options include a complete host of safety and driver aids, headup display, lane departure, and adaptive cruise are actually helpful and not intrusive. I enjoy the Bose 12spkr system while rowing through the gears. The transmission is smooth and precise. This is not a fast car but it is a joy driving with spirit. The back seats are snug but our young children fit comfortably. The rear hatch is deep and fits enough for getaways or Costco runs. The handling is confidence inspiring that keeps you grinning even well within the car's limits. Having owned other Mazdas including Mazda6 6spd v6, CX 5 twice...the Mazda 3 hasn't disappointed. The Mazda 3 is a fun car that delivers a rewarding experience, decent fuel efficiency, adequate practicality, and an interior that feels premium. The long term reliability is the really what seals the deal. We're looking forward to many years of enjoying ownership.

2016 MINI Countryman review
This is our third MINI. We have a 2008 Cooper and a 2013 Countryman. It's become an addiction. Usually, by the time we pay off a vehicle we want to replace it. Not with MINI. We love ours and the 2016 Countryman is no exception. It's larger than the 2013, but it's still familiar. I'm the shortest at 5'9". Hubby is just under 6' and our son is 6'2". We all feel like the MINI's were designed for tall people. We refer to them as TARDISes because they are bigger on the inside. Smooth ride. Comfortable handling. Safe. Extremely reliable. Stylish. Would highly recommend.

I have the best experience in buying the suv at your dealership. Jake treated me and my family with respect, great follow up and made us understand the deal clearly. He even delivered the car to us which was very appreciated otherwise we would have not had the car that same day. Manager Derek had a great attitude and finally your finance manager was awesome! I would definitely come back for any other car in need in the future and would absolutely recommend to my family and friends. Thank you all for making our experience of car buying a cheerful one! 2025 Subaru Impreza review
I bought a 2025 Impreza Base model. This is my first Subaru, and I have to say, for a base trim package, it is A LOT of car! The dual touch screens take some getting used to, but they're easy to learn and navigate. The eyesight system is a pretty cool safety feature and helps keep me focused if I get distracted. The AWD is really smooth when accelerating, and the CVT feels similar to an automatic. I wasn't expecting to like a CVT but I feel like Subaru is doing them right. We'll see where this thing is at in a few years, but so far it feel pretty nice. This thing has plenty of juice when getting up to speed. The steering controlled headlights are a cool feature I didn't know I needed. Overall, this is a very nice vehicle at a great price. It's a perfect daily driver and then some.

2024 BMW i4 Gran Coupe review
As a BMW driver for decades (318i, 328i), I reluctantly switched to Tesla when the Model S became the first practical EV. I wanted to drive electric more than I wanted to be loyal to (IMHO) the best line of sedans and coupes on the planet. I loved the S, too, but after 12 years it was having problems, support was rotten, and it was time for a replacement. Fortunately, all the manufacturers have EVs now. Although I test drove several other makes, I was delighted to see that the BMW i4 was my favorite. When it started to look like tariffs were going to increase prices, I abbreviated my search and went for the Bimmer. By chance, the dealer had a 2024 shop loaner available with low mileage and a lower price than a brand new 2025 so I leased it. (Incidentally, it was less expensive in absolute dollars than the Model S was in 2012!) I'm glad I "pulled the trigger" when I did and I love the car. Handling is excellent. It "feels like" a BMW despite slightly lighter steering than my last 328. It's feature-rich and I'm still learning the ancillary controls. I'm OK with CarPlay although Tesla's own infotainment system is better. The driver assist is good and automatic stop/start in heavy traffic is a joy although I still prefer steering myself under better conditions. I think most BMW drivers will feel likewise. I haven't used self-parking other than a demo in the dealer's lot but I promise to try it. I don't expect to need a lot of service - it's an EV - but at least BMW takes phone calls! The cell phone app is better than Tesla's and it's NOT the only way to schedule service. My only real objection is the location of the charge port at right-rear which will make it awkward to use short-corded Tesla Superchargers even once BMW concludes a deal with Tesla. The i4 has more "hard" controls - which I prefer for eyes-on-the-road driving - than Model S but its voice recognition commands are more limited. Its navigator has the same voice as Model S but gives more frequent bum steers. All in all, I'm very glad I made the switch. And I didn't give money to the Little Dictator who works for the Big Dictator!

2024 Toyota Prius Prime review
It's a fantastic vehicle, both inside and out. I get about 30-50 electric miles depending on whether I do freeway or side-street driving, what the outdoor temperature is, if I have AC on, etc. I get 50-60 mpg when the engine turns on. It gets to freeway speeds really fast in sport mode, but I normally stay on eco/normal mode - normal mode has more than enough power for my needs. Interior features lack the extra toys from the XSE and Premium trims, but I can live without them. Trunk space is adequate with the folding cover attached and only slightly better without it due to the sloped rear exterior. But I've never had a problem with trunk space since folding down the seats grants more than enough room for my needs. Cabin space is decent. No one in my family and friend group is over 182 cm tall so all of them can fit with ample head and leg room. I have no complaints with the handling, even at higher speeds. It's smooth, but outside noise does get a bit loud especially when the engine turns on. Charging is a tad over nine hours if using a standard 110v/120v L1 charger, and half that with a 220v/240v L2 charger. The Prius Prime is not built to handle DC charging, so don't bother with that. EV mode is good for up to 55 mph or so, and HV mode is good for speeds beyond that. The sweet spot speed for HV mode seems to be around 65-72 mph. Beyond that and efficiency takes a nosedive. The Prius Prime, or any plug-in hybrid (PHEV), isn't for everyone. It's the best of both worlds, but it's also the worst of both worlds. During EV mode, a PHEV is a less efficient battery electric vehicle (BEV) since it's carrying a heavy internal combustion engine (ICE) that isn't being used, along with all the other ICE components. It also has all the maintenance requirements of the standard HEV variant, unlike a true BEV. When the battery is depleted, a PHEV is a worse hybrid since it's carrying a big battery that isn't being used. Despite a PHEV's versatility between gasoline and electric usage, it isn't for everyone. It can run on gasoline only without ever charging the battery, but then you lose all the benefits of EV driving. You paid extra for the EV experience, so you might as well charge the battery. Final thoughts: the Prius Prime is a very good car, but only If you can charge at home. If not, then get the standard Prius since that one is an even more efficient hybrid.

The Prius is the last cat you will have to buy. The reason being is that this vehicle is extremely reliable. It gets over 50 MPG & it doesn’t have any issues or problems whatsoever. I was skeptical upon purchasing this vehicle, being 6 ft. 1 & 235 lbs, but it actually is quite comfortable inside. Overall this is a rock solid vehicle, it will not disappoint you in any way. 2012 Volvo C30 review
My first car was a Renault Clio Bebop, followed by a Peugeot 106 rally car, then an Alfa 145 and then I met this C30 guy in 2009. I loved it. Then I bought a C30 again in 2012, with a nicer design, the EcoDrive. I still have this and it's been 10 years. It brings together everything I like in a car: safety, stability, resistance and beautiful design. It is a shame that so much damage has been suffered in the workshops that represent Volvo – Santogal in Portugal. There it was damaged in several ways, and in the last inspection, a few days ago, they did several things to it, namely: they filled the coolant tank too much (1 finger over the maximum), they cleaned the air conditioning system and at the time removing the grille. which is near the front glass, they broke a fitting and on the same side they lost a screw, that is, this grille is only fixed on the left side, on the right side it is loose. They discovered that the inner bellows was broken and for this reason they wanted to replace both steering arms. I know that to change this bellows you have to disassemble many things, it is a lot of work, but saying that “there is considerable clearance in the suspension arms” to justify changing the right and left arms seems too much to me, especially when I go for the mandatory inspection to request an evaluation of this clearance and verify that there is no clearance, they confirmed that the internal bellows is broken but found no clearance in the suspension arms. In the past they have damaged the rims mainly because Volvo wheel nuts are really challenging as they are one of the few brands that insist on making a capped nut that is sealed to look better but eventually comes loose. . When they loosen, they cannot be released easily and that is why they do it by hammering. Over time the paint wears off and now I have wheels that are a shame. In addition to all this, the C30 for me is a fantastic car with extraordinary features. On the home/work route it consumes 5.4, which is great, and in the city it consumes more, staying at 7.2. However, in addition to being a pleasure to drive this car, because we feel that we are in a safe car, it drives quite well and responds very well in situations where we need engine and power. The engine is a known and proven engine (Peugeot 307) and as such presents no problems in this regard. The exterior design for me remains one of the most beautiful. When the car is well washed (mine is silver) it looks beautiful and has an aggressive look, naughty I would say! :) It's lovely. It's a shame they ended this model. I won't let go of mine. It will stay with me until it reaches classic status! :)
