Easy purchase and great environment!

My purchase experience was second to none at Beaverton Toyota. I was in the market for a used Camry in excellent condition, with low miles. Gladstone Toyota is walking distance from my house, but I didn't even bother going in as their internet prices were higher than anywhere else. I did go to Portland/Broadway Toyota: the inner-city environment and cramped lots was stressful; I did NOT like the GM there. So I called Beaverton Toyota (herafter, "BT"). I asked for a sales person to inquire about a car posted online. I got David Kinney (great good fortune)! David was great on the phone. Moreover he was honest (born out by later observations, conversations, and circumstances). He told me that the car was not there. After further over-the-phone conversation David found another car that fit my search criteria. So I headed into BT to see David. The experience started in the parking lot where a rep greeted me, took my name, and directed me towards sales. After finding sales they took my name, offered water/coffee, and then went and found David. Long story short, David was with me from about 2:30 to 8:00 PM. He never rushed me, or pushed, or seemed impatient. I'm hypoglycemic and I needed to eat at the end of the second test drive, so David and I stopped and had lunch on the test drive! BT didn't have anything I wanted to buy, within my search criteria. When I said no to a car, David accepted that: he didn't try to con me or use any of the normal sales tactics. I decided to look at some cars above my price point because I realized I wasn't going to get what I wanted otherwise. David did not influence me in this regard. After I asked about other cars he said, "There are some others. I didn't want to mention them and seem like I was pushing you to buy something you didn't want." I bought a 2014 Camry LE: two-years newer and 4 grand more expensive than I planned on. I was glad to do so. Some reviewers have noted that BT has fixed prices. This is true. What I can say is that the fixed prices are about right --after a fairly extensive market search before hand. You probably could do fractionally better on price elsewhere or by rigorous negotiations. What you get for paying slightly too much is great service and a stress free environment. Believe you me, I looked hard at that 1 to 5% extra. Ultimately, I decided it was worth it. The purchase process was amazing. I dealt with David, first to last. BT does not play games, swap sales persons, or hand customers over to loan specialists. David and I sat at a table and did the intial purchasing on an iPad. The closing was a mixture of iPad and signing paperwork. David did all the footwork and back-and-forth stuff -- while I sat in leisure. After purchase I found BT had pulled the car into a garage and had done a final detailing and affixed the temporary licensing to the window. David walked me through the operation of every single button and how to navigate the smart screen. At the last David took some selfies of us and the car. Later, at my brother's place, I was asked about my purchase experience. My response summarized it nicely: "It was a great, no stress, experience. The dealership was the kind of place I would go to to relax for a bit and get away from the world!"
