2022 GMC Acadia review: Our expert's take

What Is the 2022 GMC Acadia?

The GMC Acadia is a mid-size SUV that seats up to seven, though its third row is best left to kids. Power comes from a standard 228-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder or an available 310-hp, 3.6-liter V-6. Both engines work with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Front- and all-wheel-drive can be had with either engine. Competitors include the Ford Edge, Honda Pilot and Mazda CX-9.

What’s New on the 2022 GMC Acadia?

GMC Pro Safety Plus is now standard. It includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and blind spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert.

What Features in the 2022 GMC Acadia Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • LED headlights
  • 4G LTE Wi-Fi hot spot (data subscription required after initial trial)
  • 8-inch touchscreen multimedia system
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity
  • Tri-zone automatic climate control
  • Second-row captain’s chairs

Available features include:

  • Hands-free power liftgate
  • Leather-trimmed seats
  • Heated and ventilated front seats
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Navigation
  • 360-degree camera system
  • Head-up display

Should I Buy the 2022 GMC Acadia?

The 2022 Acadia’s extra standard safety features are important additions in the highly competitive three-row SUV class. A comfortable ride bodes well for long trips, even if limited cargo capacity behind the third row means some luggage may have to be stored on the roof. The third row is also snug.

Awesome Ride!

I got my Acadia AT4 used. I was attracted it for its rugged look and it is fully loaded. I was downsizing from a Traverse and this one fit the bill. I love all the safety features, the way it drives, and the power from the V6 engine. It also includes Android Auto, which I use all the time. I was able to transfer my OnStar plan to this as well and am totally happy with my purchase!

NICE EXTERIOR LOOK, EXELENT RIDE

This is my second Acadia (the first one was a 2017) I bought this 2022 brand new and choose the Denali trim. So, after 19 months, I am very satisfied. I would say that I fairly got what I had pay for.
