What Is the 2022 Honda Odyssey?

The front-wheel-drive Honda Odyssey minivan seats seven or eight in three rows. Power comes from a standard 280-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 engine that pairs with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Competitors include the Chrysler Pacifica, Kia Carnival and Toyota Sienna

The Odyssey offers 41.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind its second row and 21.1 cubic feet behind its third row, according to Cars.com’s cargo measurements. You can see how it scored in our Car Seat Check here.

What’s New on the 2022 Honda Odyssey?

There are no significant changes this year.

What Features in the 2022 Honda Odyssey Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • LED headlights
  • Push-button start
  • Automatic climate control
  • Power-adjustable front seats
  • Bluetooth streaming audio
  • Honda Sensing suite of active safety features

Available features include:

  • Power-sliding side doors
  • Power liftgate
  • Power moonroof
  • Remote start
  • Leather-trimmed seats
  • Heated and ventilated front seats

Should I Buy the 2022 Honda Odyssey?

The Odyssey is a sensible family-hauler that should satisfy those who need lots of seating, plenty of cargo room or a combination of the two. Its car-like driving manners and ease of entry and exit make it a practical alternative to a high-riding SUV, so long as you don’t need a lot of towing capability; the Odyssey is rated to tow 3,500 pounds when properly equipped. Unlike the Pacifica and Sienna, the Odyssey doesn’t offer all-wheel drive, and to get useful convenience features like power-sliding side doors or Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, you have to step up to the EX trim level.

Not a big fan of the breaking system which wears out the brakes if you follow vehicles close. Interior storage spaces are much smaller or non existent. Interior much more cheaply made and does not last nearly as long.

  • Wonderful Family Car

This is the best family car I’ve owned. The kids have their own entertainment while I can listen to my own music. Accessing the third row is no problem as the seat in the middle is removable and the pilot seats slide to the side, making it easy to get to the third row even when the pilot seats have car seats. It’s a wonderful car!

  • Unsafe & Unreliable Vehicle. Worst purchase ever.

This van is AWFUL. Absolutely would not recommend it to anyone. It’s not safe. It has broken down on the highway THREE times. We have a dog & two toddlers. There is something wrong with the transmission yet Brandon Honda Dealership & Honda corporate won’t address the issues. The first time it broke down without warning was after buying it BRAND NEW & having less than 300 miles on it. The transmission went out completely. Do NOT BUY A HONDA ODYSSEY.

  • Luxurious new Odyssey

This is a brand new car, so all we can base this on is the ride home from purchasing it. We traded in a 2014 Toyota Sienna AWD Limited which had been a good car, but it was lacking refinements in its information/entertainment center, and it was quite noisy and rough. We can only judge from the 100+ miles we put on the Odyssey so far, but it is luxurious and smooth riding and quiet. The drive on two-lane rough roads and interstate was wonderful. There are too many features to mention here, but we are sure we made the right decision in purchasing this beautifully designed car. Even the exterior has a very special look. We purchased the white with beige interior and love it.

  • Great Car

This is our fourth Odyssey over the years. We love them. We love our new Odyssey. The radiant red color is beautiful. It has plenty of space inside. There are also many convenience features. Even though we no longer have kids to have to shuttle places anymore, we love the space. This van is great for traveling.

  • Best multi-generation car available!

After week one I am anticipating a second generation of many road trips. This car is roomy (8 comfortable leg room seats) yet zippy to drive. Turning radius on a dime and super comfortable seats. The elite odyssey is luxurious and a dream to drive. Certainly NOT the minivan of the past. My family is safe, lots of cargo space and lots of room for the very tall parents and oversized baby seats. Let the fun begin!
