2020 Jaguar XF review: Our expert's take

What Is the 2020 Jaguar XF?

The Jaguar XF is a five-seat mid-size luxury sedan that is available with a choice of three engines: two turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinders (247 or 296 horsepower) or a supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 (380 hp). The supercharged V-6 works exclusively with all-wheel drive; the other engines come with rear- or all-wheel drive. All models use an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The XF is also available as the five-seat Sportbrake wagon with the 296-hp four-cylinder or the supercharged V-6; both have standard AWD. Competitors include the Audi A6, BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Lexus GS.

What’s New on the 2020 Jaguar XF?

The XF comes standard with Jaguar’s InControl Touch Pro multimedia system and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity. Front and rear parking sensors are also standard. There’s also a new Checkered Flag Limited Edition model that features unique styling cues and is powered by the 296-hp engine.

What Features in the 2020 Jaguar XF Are Most Important?

The XF serves a variety of needs and desires with the availability of a wagon body style and a choice of rear- or all-wheel drive. It comes with most features expected from a luxury brand, and options include an adaptive suspension.

Should I Buy the 2020 Jaguar XF?

The XF is competent in most areas and satisfying in some, but it has little to recommend over its primary competitors — the BMW 5 Series and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class — including a luxury feel to help justify its price.
