Expert 2026 Toyota Sienna review

Our expert's take

toyota sienna xse exterior front angle oem jpg

Key Points

  • The 2026 Toyota Sienna starts at $41,615 (all prices include $1,495 destination charge).
  • More standard equipment on entry-level LE trim
  • Hybrid powertrain returns up to 36 mpg combined

Exclusively hybrid since the latest generation bowed for the 2021 model year, the Toyota Sienna is one of the few minivans left on the market. But with available all-wheel drive, seven- or eight-passenger seating, and fuel economy as high as 36 mpg combined, it’s a capable do-it-all tool for families. For the 2026 model year, Toyota is bolstering the Sienna’s case with more standard equipment on the entry-level LE trim, including a power liftgate, rear window shades and an upgraded audio system.

Release Date and Pricing

The 2026 Toyota Sienna will go on sale in January 2026, and full pricing is below. Front-wheel drive is standard on most trim levels, with AWD available for another $2,000; AWD is standard on the Woodland Edition and Platinum.

  • LE: $41,615
  • XLE: $46,315
  • XSE: $49,540
  • Limited: $52,300
  • Woodland Edition: $52,395
  • Platinum: $59,005

Trim Levels

The entry-level Sienna LE rides on 17-inch wheels and includes keyless entry and start, LED headlights and taillights, heated side mirrors, power-sliding side doors and a power liftgate. Its cabin features cloth upholstery, three-zone automatic climate control, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, second- and third-row window shades, wireless phone charging, eight speakers and an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard on every 2026 Sienna. This suite of driver-assist tech includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-centering steering, lane departure warning and steering assist, automatic high beams and road-sign recognition. Blind spot monitors and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard.

Buyers who need eight seats have to be happy with either the LE or the FWD XLE; second-row captain’s chairs are fitted in the AWD XLE and all of the trim levels above it. To the LE’s equipment, the XLE adds LED foglights, hands-free power sliding doors and a moonroof. Inside, it’s upgraded with four-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustable and heated front seats, synthetic leather upholstery and a 12.3-inch touchscreen. The XLE also adds front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking.

The XSE is the Sienna for those wanting a sportier look on their minivan. FWD versions ride on 20-inch wheels, while the AWD XSE sticks with 18s. Both get trim-specific front and rear bumpers, black exterior trim, upgraded headlights and taillights, front sport seats, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and 12 speakers.

Shoppers whose definition of adventure involves less pavement and more dirt might want to check out the Woodland Edition. It gets a slight (0.6-inch) increase in ground clearance, roof rails and a 1,500-watt inverter with two 120-volt outlets. It also rides on 18-inch wheels, wears dark exterior trim and badging, and can tow up to 3,500 pounds with a standard hitch.

The Limited and Platinum trim levels upgrade to real leather upholstery and include ventilated front seats and ottomans for the second-row captain’s chairs. The Platinum adds rain-sensing windshield wipers, heated second-row seats, a heated steering wheel, a 360-degree camera system and head-up display.

Powertrain Specs and MPG

Every 2026 Sienna is a hybrid, with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor combining to generate 245 system horsepower. The hybrid powertrain’s output is routed through a continuously variable automatic transmission. FWD is standard on most trim levels, with AWD available except on the Woodland Edition and Platinum, where it’s standard.

Toyota says the 2026 Sienna returns the same EPA-estimated 36/36/36 mpg city/highway/combined with FWD and 34/36/35 mpg with AWD as the 2025 model, but official EPA ratings are not yet available for the ‘26 model year.
