2021 Volkswagen ID.4 review
I had multiple problems with infotainment screen which were finally resolved with replacement at 3.5 years. Car is solid, a joy to drive ....a true tight German machine. so many nice features, handling, turning radius, quiet comfort, visabiltiy and still solid after 4 years. the software may have some needs but the car is great. I am out of warranty and kept the car. It has been dependable after replacement of the screen. The price for a new one is now too high so I purchased an extended VW warranty.

2024 BMW i4 Gran Coupe review
As a BMW driver for decades (318i, 328i), I reluctantly switched to Tesla when the Model S became the first practical EV. I wanted to drive electric more than I wanted to be loyal to (IMHO) the best line of sedans and coupes on the planet. I loved the S, too, but after 12 years it was having problems, support was rotten, and it was time for a replacement. Fortunately, all the manufacturers have EVs now. Although I test drove several other makes, I was delighted to see that the BMW i4 was my favorite. When it started to look like tariffs were going to increase prices, I abbreviated my search and went for the Bimmer. By chance, the dealer had a 2024 shop loaner available with low mileage and a lower price than a brand new 2025 so I leased it. (Incidentally, it was less expensive in absolute dollars than the Model S was in 2012!) I'm glad I "pulled the trigger" when I did and I love the car. Handling is excellent. It "feels like" a BMW despite slightly lighter steering than my last 328. It's feature-rich and I'm still learning the ancillary controls. I'm OK with CarPlay although Tesla's own infotainment system is better. The driver assist is good and automatic stop/start in heavy traffic is a joy although I still prefer steering myself under better conditions. I think most BMW drivers will feel likewise. I haven't used self-parking other than a demo in the dealer's lot but I promise to try it. I don't expect to need a lot of service - it's an EV - but at least BMW takes phone calls! The cell phone app is better than Tesla's and it's NOT the only way to schedule service. My only real objection is the location of the charge port at right-rear which will make it awkward to use short-corded Tesla Superchargers even once BMW concludes a deal with Tesla. The i4 has more "hard" controls - which I prefer for eyes-on-the-road driving - than Model S but its voice recognition commands are more limited. Its navigator has the same voice as Model S but gives more frequent bum steers. All in all, I'm very glad I made the switch. And I didn't give money to the Little Dictator who works for the Big Dictator!

2026 Subaru Solterra review
First EV. LOTS to learn. Lots and lots of settings & configuration stuff. Most defaults OK. Not sure if bought a car that has a Tablet or a very expensive Tablet that has wheels. Couple of things that stuck out: NO Glove Box. (bad) / No Spare Tire (bad). / No Jack + No Lug Wrench (really Bad) for OFF Road AWD capable? That's irresponsible ! And when buying a separate Solterra 'Jack Kit' from dealer, the Lug Wrench won't fit the Lug nuts. Need 21mm wrench. Kit came for 19mm wheel nuts. That's totally irresponsible !! Plus there are special almost hidden lift points under each side designated as lift points. Any other spots will Damage something! Road service? Where? in Boonies with GPS coordinates? (not gonna happen!) And even though has NACS Tesla type charger nozzle, absolutely can NOT charge at Tesla fast chargers. (Tesla charger cables too short + Subaru software won't connect.) So have to use charger that came with Solterra and endure Level 1 charge times, or install Level 2 charger at home, or go to Level 2 or DC chargers in your area. Actually, there's several in our area so not so bad, BUT about a road trip; that's something else. (it's a challenge). Remember: NO TESLA chargers! period! Range at 90% charge made under 200 miles round trip. Normal charge is 80% max. So will have to try that next time. Still significant uncertainty. For 2026, this is supposed to be an improvement from prior years. Now about the vehicle itself; pretty good. In fact: it's made by Toyota as a joint venture in Japan. So confidence level is pretty good that as far as an EV is concerned, they know what they're doing. Very quiet and pretty smooth ride. Has 3 power options and all three this thing can Launch and go fast. And since it's AWD, amazing traction on dirt and gravel. 30 degree up hill on gravel, stop, and go = no wheel spin. Same when descending and no spin when backing up. Most excellent! I find the telescoping steering wheel short. Needs additional pull out capability. Tilt OK. Driving with Boots is a problem. Driver leg room between pedal and brake too close and offset to the right, Makes driver foot positions cramped and a bit awkward. Pretty tight for 240 pound, 5'-10" man. Plenty of head room as this Premier model doesn't have Sun roof. (NOT good in Arizona). Climate control works good for both driver and passenger. This came with power driver's seat and manual passenger. (OK for us) Yet even with power driver's seat, have a bit difficulty getting in and out as have to duck head considerably and once in vehicle, seems to sit pretty low. This model does NOT remember driver 1 & driver 2 positions. Also, does not have tilting rear view mirror. (Again bad - bad - bad) . Have to grab whole mirror and push up or down to accommodate the driver. Glad the vehicle was furnished with Owners Manual. There's 3. Lots & Lots to read. Dealer was nice, polite and tries to help, but sales folks don't know as they don't own one. Your 80% on your own to learn and figure stuff and buttons and symbols on EV screen on your own. Would I buy again ? Not sure. Not bummed with purchase, just still very unsure about things even after 1 month ownership. Just feel uncertain driving with all that goes on and displays. Some helpful / some distracting. In fact most of the time have screen display turned OFF so can pay attention to road and vehicle responses. Ask me again a year from now.

2024 Nissan ARIYA review
Admittedly, have not had this vehicle for very long, but I am very impressed. And I am difficult to impress. Previous vehicle was an ‘18 RAM 1500 with V8 Hemi. It was fun, powerful, loud, and I enjoyed sitting up high. Two weeks in the Ariya, and I don’t miss it. I have the AWD version, and this thing moves at the frequency I think. I mean, you see a space in traffic you want to get to, check blind spots and BAM, you’re there. Handling is crisp and tight, remaining so at highway speeds. Bumps handled like a luxury mobile of 2X the cost. Cabin is quiet, spacious, and does not feel cheap. Tons of features, power everything. Screen bootup is rapid and has my tunes going by the time I’m buckled in and have my glasses switched to my sunglasses. Heads up display tells everything I need, and well positioned. Charging so far has not been an issue in the least. Installed a ChargePoint charger in my garage, and it’s easily setup and controlled through their app, so it charges on schedule according to my utility provider’s preferred charge time, giving me a break on the electricity used to charge it. All told, I’ve spent $6 over 2 weeks and 500 miles. Truck would have cost me a tank, or 30 gallons of gas for same distance.

I went in last week to check out a 2019 Honda Accord EX-L, only because it was close to another car I was scheduled to test down the road in Pasadena. May sales rep was Mark and he's awesome. He is extremely helpful and knowledgeable and even better, showed me with minimal research that the other car I was going to see had TWO previous accidents (shame on me for not seeing that) and they met me at the price I needed. So I ended up buying the Accord (very low mileage) at a great price. The best part was how easy Mark made the experience. My wife is on the loan but she didn't even have to be there. I drove the car off the lot about 2 hours after I arrived. They let me keep my old Honda in the lot until we were able to return that afternoon to pick it up. 2023 Subaru Solterra review
I bought the car at Sabaru of Englewood. First the car didn't came with the originals tires. I asked the seller if the car qualified for the $7000. 00 insentive and I thrust them. Ourisman Kia of Bethesda review
I had a great experience with David Williams at Ourisman Kia Bethesda recently when buying a used Ioniq. He was extremely straightforward, helpful, and great to work with. Highly recommend. Best car buying experience in decades. There was none of the usual (lousy) back and forth, playing games; everything was straightforward with no surprises, no hidden fees, no bait and switch like I've seen at other dealers. I greatly value that. I started on their website looking at one particular vehicle and David answered on chat when I indicated an interest. Before I got too invested he volunteered that there was minor damage on the vehicle that didn't show on pictures. Other dealers would have not said anything and let me come in (a decent drive away) to try to sell me on something else, but David didn't do that bait and switch so I really appreciated that. He had other similar vehicles in stock so I decided to come on in anyways. When I arrived, the vehicle was not only already ready to go, they had put it through their detailing process right before I arrived. David encouraged me to take a longer test drive, and I was able to get a feel for the vehicle in a low pressure situation. He drove with me on my request and was very patient in answering my questions about the car and the dealership. We worked together to find a good deal that benefited both of us and I walked away very happy; I hope David and Ourisman did too. I really appreciate that when we finally started talking numbers, there wasn't that constant back and forth "let me bring it to my manager" dance. It was a very fast turnaround on price negotiation and I'm glad we didn't have any wasted time. Finalizing the deal went smoothly without problems. We've had the car now for a week and it's been great. As I said it's been one of the best buying experiences I've had. A+, highly recommend, would go again. 2025 Kia EV6 review
I feel I must update my review from last month as Kia finally replaced the Power Relay Assembly and everything works perfectly now! Lucky that it presented as AC not blowing cold air. The car is an absolute pleasure to drive. We're planning a long road trip over Thanksgiving looking forward to using the Tesla supercharging network.

CarMax West Broad review
First time I went in, was just looking to see what was on the lot and was greeted, and after that, not another contact with anyone. When I came back to test drive a few vehicles, got a great sales guy. Overall selection of vehicles is quite nice, and most of the vehicles are almost new to very good condition. Though Carmax likes to display the image they sell cars that have or haven't had any issues, you'll find you'll need to look closer. Most are bought at auction after coming off lease or from being a fleet vehicle. Which is a good thing, as you the regular maintenance was done on them and often the vehicles have original warranties still in effect depending on what vehicle you are looking for and what year. The sales guy was low pressure, and when I came in the next day to buy, I was given another one since he was completing a sale on another customer. Wasn't an issue, as he or the guy that took over were truly "car" guys. The liked cars, had sales experience, but weren't "car" guys. The experience was good overall, but the highlight was completing the deal. Paperwork was done quickly (I had preapproval from my credit union with EFT) and finished the paperwork in about twenty minutes. Amazing, got the vehicle at just an average price, but go the mileage I wanted, with original warranty and extended warranty at the price I was willing to pay. SO overall, win for me, and though I was never a Carmax fan (still rubs me the wrong way their colors are almost best buy colors when their parent company was circuit city....). But I will say my mind was changed.
