Our Best Car Buying Experience Ever

On April 4, 2018 there was a wind storm and a tree fell on my 2009 Toyota Rav 4 - the car was deemed totaled by the insurance company. It was time to look for a vehicle. My wife has a 2005 Honda Element we both love, and we had been talking about getting a Honda Ridgeline since they were reintroduced in 2017 We went to a local Honda dealership and test drove a Ridgeline and also a Pilot. We did the usual song and dance and got pricing with options that we wanted. That night when I got home I decided to try the Costco members Auto Buying Program and see what kind of pricing I could get to compare. I filled out the online form of what we were looking for, and Keenan Honda in Doylestown was the closest Honda dealer that came up.... we were hesitant because of the 2 hour distance and had hoped to stay local, but decided to give them a call. The next day Iggy DeScala the online sales manager from Keenan Honda was the first person to contact me via a phone call. I asked him for the bottom line price and since I was 2 hours away he was very helpful and gave me prices over the phone. He was extremely polite and understood I was comparison shopping - there was no pressure at all. I got pricing on two different models of 2018 & 2019 Ridgeline I used the pricing to go back to my local dealships - none of them even came close - the closest was $3000 higher, they kept insisting that the numbers I was given did not include sales tax. I received a follow up call from Evan Skoures, a salesman that works under Iggy. Again another pleasant experience- he was not trying to sell me anything, no pressure or the usual games that dealers play. We chatted and texted several times over the next few days (I made the majority of the phone calls to him with questions and he was more then happy to answer them all - again zero pressure) We decided on a 2019 Honda Ridgeline RTL-T model black on black and some great added accessories. (Dealerships in our area said they could not get one until at least mid may to early June) I put a deposit down over the phone with Evan - over the course of a few days the other dealerships called me back and asked what they could do to earn my business and I told them that I had already put my deposit down with Keenan. On 4/20/2018 my wife and I drove 2 hours to Keenan Honda - we met Evan for the first time. What a very nice and funny guy. We chatted for awhile - and then we were introduced to Steve Kern the finance manager- again another fantastic experience - no pressure at all. A very smooth and easy transaction. We had shopped at our local credit union and we were pre approved for a loan - Keenan was actually able to get us a loan through a local credit union in their area at a better rate!!!!! After we completed all the paperwork - it was then time to see our new Ridgeline - wow what a vehicle - and also Evan took a great deal of time to go over all the features - he did not try to rush us out - he answered all of our questions (and we had a lot of them) This was by far the best experience we have ever had buying a vehicle - this is the way it should be. I want to thank Iggy, Evan & Steve again for a fantastic transaction from beginning to end. They have earned a lifelong customer. Other dealerships could learn a lot from Costco and Keenan Honda and their no games approach.
