2024 Mazda CX-90 review
Recently leased a 2024 Mazda CX-90 3.3 I6 Turbo Premium Plus. Love the vehicle so far. Considered a PHEV with huge discounts but was able to get a nicer 2024 I6 for around the same price, and it’s a much better vehicle. Love the interior and the styling. Drives great. No complaints. Highly recommend.

2024 Mazda CX-90 review
If you're thinking about the PHEV version of this car, here's my take on it from personal experience: Pros: Quiet Ride: It's super quiet, which is great. Nice Interior: The inside feels fancy and comfortable. Fun to Drive: It handles well and is enjoyable on the road. Middle Row Seats: The bucket seats are comfy and make extra space for stuff. Cons: Short Electric Range: Even though they say it can go 26 miles on electric, I mostly get just 20 miles. And it takes forever (like 13 hours) to charge, sometimes not even fully. The 495 miles of highway that Mazda states seems very lofty and exaggerated Quick to Lose Charge: The battery drains faster than you'd expect. Slow Acceleration: It doesn't pick up speed as quickly as you'd think because of some lag. Wireless Charging Issues: The wireless charger is hit or miss and really slow. Sensor Problems: The car sensors aren't always right. They've mistakenly warned me of cars ahead when there weren't any, which is annoying. Infotainment System: If you've used Mazda systems before, you know they can be a pain. Simple stuff like pausing music or connecting your phone can be frustrating. And you need the most expensive version to get a touchscreen. Final Thoughts: I'm not here to bash the CX90-PHEV. Just want to share what I've found for anyone thinking about getting one. If you're considering it, maybe look into leasing to take advantage of any credits. Overall, it's not a bad car when things work.

2026 Mazda CX-90 review
Not a BMW, Lexus or Mercedes, but it comes reasonably close for the $20-30K savings. Upscale interior, tight handling, fairly quiet ride. I purchased the second from the bottom of the line: Turbo Preferred with the standard 280 hp inline 6 engine. Easily enough power. Negotiated the $45.5 sticker down to $40.5, still expensive but way lower than even the Honda Pilot. Only complaint: 3rd Seat is ONLY FOR KIDS.

2024 Mazda CX-90 review
It’s been such a pleasure to own and drive the cx90! My only complaint is I wish it got better gas mileage. The AWD works very well, the inline 6 is more than enough power to drive the vehicle fully loaded with luggage and 6 passengers for 4 hour trips. Overall it’s been an excellent vehicle to own a drive. Driving is believing!

After owning several luxury SUV”s , the Mazda CX 90 with the inline 6 engine, is amazing and just as luxurious! The cabin is quiet the ride is smooth and have taken several road trips without any problems. We have been very impressed with the gas mileage on this AWD as well. The third row is ideal for anyone under 5.11, and it’s very convenient to have rear AC that can be controlled by rear passengers.

2026 Mazda CX-90 review
3.3 Turb Premium Plus The Bottom Line I really want to love this car. It looks sharp on the road, and the dealership/salesperson experience was fantastic. However, living with it daily on a Premium Plus trim has revealed several glaring design and engineering flaws. From severe turbo lag to a center console layout that feels downright poorly thought out, it’s hard to fully recommend this specific setup. PROS Exterior Styling: The car looks great and has a sleek, modern presence. Dealership Experience: The buying process and the salesman were top-notch. CONS Severe Turbo Lag: When you press the gas pedal to the ground, there is a massive delay before the turbo kicks in and the car actually starts moving. It’s completely unresponsive and frustrating when you need immediate power to merge or pull out quickly. I'm ultimately just not a fan of this turbo. Poor Cup Holder Placement: The cup holders are far too small for modern cups. Worse yet, if you aren't incredibly careful when putting a drink into the holder, it is very easy to accidentally knock the shifter straight into Neutral while driving. Awkward Shifter Design: The shifter requires you to notch it over to the side, which is a lot to get used to. Because it doesn't feel fluid, it's far too easy to forget to put the car all the way into Park when getting out. Disappointing Storage: The interior storage is severely lacking. The center console bin is incredibly shallow, and there is almost no hidden storage space underneath the trunk floor panel. Subpar "Premium" Features: For a near-top trim, it’s just not that great. There is no option for an automatic easy-exit seat (where the seat slides back when you turn the car off). 2024 Mazda CX-90 review
Purchased the PHEV a little over 1 year ago and put 12K+ miles on it so far, and I like it a lot. Its stylish, quiet and great on gas. I consistently get over 70+ MPG around town and 35+MPG on longer trips. However, I *strongly recommend* the L2 charger as it cuts charging time down to 2.5 hour with 29 miles range. Without it, the L1 charger takes forever. I went with a 30W auto splitter on my dryer plug for under $140 on Amazon. Its amazing! However, even if you switch to gas, the Hybrid system averages 26 MPG with standard driving. My only complaint so far is the connection to Google/Apple play sometimes drops for seemingly no reason 1-2 times a week and the reactive driving can be touchy. Overall, very reliable and fun to drive. I highly recommend.
