  • I bought a used 2022 Escape a year ago and it has been

I bought a used 2022 Escape a year ago and it has been such an unimpressive vehicle that it's turned me off Ford forever. It's getting me from point A to point B mostly reliably so far, and I suppose I really can't ask for much more out of a vehicle, but considering the absurdly overly inflated prices of vehicles these days, I definitely do not feel like I got even close to my money's worth with this purchase. As other reviewers have mentioned, I too get the loud, nails-on-chalkboard-esque rear brake grinding when in reverse that dealers and repair shops have not been able to solve. The steering and handling feels very touchy, sometimes it feels almost bouncy when I drive despite regular alignment checks and tire rotation/balances. The infotainment center is very busy and cluttered and requires a lot of physical taps on the screen to operate, making it relatively unsafe to use when driving due to the amount of attention you need to pay to it if you need to do something other than change the volume. I was able to use Apple CarPlay when directly plugged into the vehicle, but after a couple of months it abruptly stopped allowing me to use it without any information as to why, forcing me to use Ford's downright awful "Sync" interface. I've had 3 recall notices in the single year I've owned this vehicle, compared to the ONE I had in 18 years of owning a Toyota pickup. The overall performance of the vehicle leaves a lot to be desired. It gets perfectly fine fuel economy but the objectively wimpy little turbocharged engine will be working overtime to get you uphill, and you'll eventually find yourself mentally groaning "shiiiiiift pleeeease!" as the car red lines for 10-20 seconds before finally shifting. The vehicle's body is entirely aluminum, meaning it's lighter for improved fuel economy, but a lot less sturdy, as well as more expensive to repair as aluminum requires special certifications to repair and 90% of body shops will just replace with new parts instead- if I get hit by hail, this vehicle is going to get totaled because of it, and I guarantee you I wouldn't get a check for even HALF of what I paid for it from my insurance company. Overall, this thing is just a glorified sedan and is the unfortunate direction that all American vehicles seem to be going- underwhelming turbocharged engines for improved fuel economy that constantly leaves a lot to be desired from their drivers. I wouldn't recommend this vehicle or Ford to anyone anymore, all their vehicles are going to these lackluster turbocharged engines and tin-can feeling aluminum bodies with far too complicated controls for their unique infotainment centers that result in an overall poor driving experience. It's a real shame, I used to respect Ford and would have considered them the best American-make on the market, but this Escape is just tangible proof of why Japan and Korea are kicking our butts in the automotive industry right now.

  • In 12/23, I bought my 2022 Ford Escape Se from Cecil

In 12/23, I bought my 2022 Ford Escape Se from Cecil Atkission Ford in Hondo, Texas.. Before I begin, please note that my car was blue certified, still under warranty, and I purchased an extended bumper to bumper warranty from the dealership, as well as a tire replacement plan, and a windshield replacement plan. On the morning of day 3 of ownership, when cold and or wet outside, the brakes started squealing so loudly and obnoxiously that it is embarrassing. When I addressed this with the service department, the service manager, " Oh yeah but there's nothing I can do about that." The next concern I had to address was on day 5 of ownership. I started the car and it stumbled, almost dying out. The Service Manager replied to my inquiry by stating, " Well, I don't even know what the problem is so, I can't do anything about it." Since then, at least twice per month, my engine light will come on and I get a message saying "Powertrain Malfunction" in the Ford Pass App. Subsequent attempts to address this have gotten absolutely nothing accomplished. My car is on recall for faulty fuel injectors. So, when I visited the dealership about that, I was told by the same service manager that he would not replace the fuel injectors because they were not causing a problem. He never lifted the hood. Now, Ford wants to install a drain tube that will reroute the gasoline coming from my cracked fuel injectors to keep the fuel from collecting on top of the engine and catching my car on fire. They plan for this gas to spill out in my driveway and on my garage floor. They expect me to be okay with the fumes affecting me and my four year old since they are being kind enough to update the software to tell the car to shut off if a fire starts. The last point of why you need to drive right on past that dealership and go get yourself a Toyota is the sync system. A glitch somewhere between the sync software and the process of regular updates causes an electrical problem for me on a regular basis. I can not use the C or USB ports because it will cause a fuse to blow. Nice huh ?

  • I purchased used '22 Escape SE AWD two years old, low

I purchased used '22 Escape SE AWD two years old, low mileage and delighted with my dealer purchase. Upon extensive research, I was aware the loss of market value, which is why I purchased used. This vehicle is produced in volume as 'low-end' entry among 22 field competitors. Yes, there are several vehicles out there higher rated, more expensive, but my research validated highest cargo storage - highest mpg, for the reasonable market price. You can benefit from this depreciation by buying used! Some complain of the transmission, or slow pickup, or passenger door side panels. I have had no issues after 20,000 miles 6/2024 and get 31.3 mpg combined which is stellar!! A great value for the used car price-not new price. I would recommend as a reasonable value, HIGH capacity SUV can accommodate 4 airport passengers full size luggage is my first Ford of 21 cars purchased. Styling is very attractive, good assortment of safety features. Rear seats slide for extended passenger or cargo capacity.

  • Love my 2022 SE PHEV.

Love my 2022 SE PHEV. Purchased from Carmax. Comfortable cloth seats, rear seat legroom is great, electronics are way above average especially the iPhone connectivity. Large cargo space behind rear seat. Nice looking 18” wheels. Have only purchased two gas fill ups since Oct 2023. I really have no complaints.

  • We have had this car for year now.

We have had this car for year now. We have taken it to two dealerships because it vibrates and makes a noise going 25mph or less. All they do is say the diagnostic computer says nothing is wrong. If this is how ford makes there vehicles now, this will be the last time I buy a ford. The drivers seat is very uncomfortable. My back hurts after seating in it for 10 minutes. Do not recommend buying a 2022 escape.

  • Issues with 2022 brakes, squealing when wet

We just bought a 2022 ford escape, it only had 1 owner, and the mileage was at 20,000. Now a month later , when i either go thru a car wash or wet roads my brakes squeal for the 1st few times. A loud squeal. I called the dealer i bought it from and they say its normal. I can believe the ford company is okay with this issue. This escape make our 3 in a row for vehicles. Our last one was over 200,000 miles on it. But if this is the new normal for the ford company, this will be our last ford for sure. Very sad with this purchase.

  • Nick K.

Fully loaded titanium model and it still has some of the same cheap materials as the SE model. Nice comfortable ride with adequate space for a small SUV with getting you the good MPGs you want in a hybrid. Pros: Gas mileage, full LED dash, great headlights. Cons: Cheap dash material, unpainted bumpers/fender flares, cheap heads up display. Recalls due to possible engine failure in the 2.5 hybrid engine.

  • I would not recommend purchasing a escape

I’ve had my 2022 Ford escape for a year in October, it’s hard to believe that the value has dropped from $35,000 that I paid one year ago to 18,0000. Makes me sick !!! The driver seat is extremely uncomfortable, I do drive for a living at least three times a month round-trip being up to 600 miles. I find it very hard to get out of the car after I’ve driven at least for a couple of hours the seat kills my back and kills my legs. I would not recommend this car to anyone.

  • A good little suv.

I purchased new nine months ago. No problems. Lots of good options. Good mileage. Up to 35 mpg on highway using cruise control. Acceleration is excellent. A lot of room for a small suv. The only thing I don't like is the dial shifter. I prefer a stick. In my opinion this is an excellent all around suv. It doesn't do everything and it doesn't please everyone but show me a car that does. I would recommend it.

  • RIP Ford Escape Used to be Such a good car

This car looks very nice but is made as cheaply as humanly possible. As soon as I drove us away I noticed the brakes squeaked LOUDLY as I backed up. The front wheels are constant filthy due to the cheap brake pad used. There are black (rust?) marks coming from the mirrors and handles if I don’t get a car wash for a few weeks. Also, within a month, the battery died in one of the two key fobs that came with it and they wanted me to replace it on my dime. The system is glitchy and has trouble hooking up with my phone and disconnects while I’m having phone conversations via Bluetooth. I’d like to add this is the 3rd Ford Escape I’ve consecutively leased because I had loved the car so much in the past. I can’t believe the downgrade in quality with the 2022 model. You may not notice if you’ve never driven an escape before but this is the worst car I’ve ever leased. Poor quality in a pretty little package.
