Beware-NO SPARE

We decided to give Hyundai a try this time around and with just over 4k miles on it, the radio went out. Was in dealership for almost 6 weeks. FOR A RADIO! Got it back and we were in Death Valley and got a flat tire. All that they put in these cars is a small/ cheap tire pump and a container of goo to seal the tire. No spare & no jack! SHAME ON EVERY CAR MANUFACTURER THAT DOES THIS!!!. I ended up driving very slowly on the flat tire for a long distance just to be able to park out of the brutal sun. This could have been very serious had we not been fairly close to a gas station. I ordered a new rim & tire for it so now we have a spare if it should ever happen again!

They keep getting better

I have the Limited. This is my 6th Hyundai/Genesis car and they just keep getting better. The technology is fantastic and equals many features in luxury cars at twice the price. In June I took a 3450 mile trip, hit 14 states and a variety of traffic conditions and it just kept chugging along with no effort. Features like HDA help on the long days of 700 miles. Used less gas than my previous car too, 95 gallons on that trip.

2023 Hyundai Sonata review: Our expert's take

What Is the 2023 Hyundai Sonata?

The 2023 Hyundai Sonata is a mid-size sedan with a sleek shape and several powertrain choices: a standard 191-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder; an available 180-hp, turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder; a 2.0-liter hybrid setup generating 192 hp; and a potent 290-hp, turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder found in the sporty N Line. A conventional eight-speed automatic transmission is standard, while the 290-hp four-cylinder gets an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic. Fuel economy is impressive across the lineup, but it’s especially good in the hybrid. If you’re planning on carrying lots of cargo in your sedan, the Sonata’s a good option, with 19.8 cubic feet of trunk space, according to Cars.com’s cargo measurements.

The Sonata’s competition includes the Honda Accord, Kia K5, Nissan Altima and Toyota Camry.

What’s New on the 2023 Hyundai Sonata?

Very little has changed as the Sonata enters the 2023 model year. The Sonata Hybrid Limited’s solar roof has been replaced by a panoramic moonroof, and a 10.25-inch infotainment screen has been added to SEL.

What Features in the 2023 Hyundai Sonata Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • LED headlights
  • Cloth upholstery
  • 60/40 split-folding backseat
  • Six-speaker stereo
  • 8-inch touchscreen multimedia system
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Driver drowsiness monitor
  • Rear-seat reminder
  • Pedestrian detection
  • Lane keeping assist

Available features include:

  • Panoramic moonroof
  • Hands-free trunk lid
  • Leather-trimmed seats
  • Heated and ventilated front seats
  • Heated steering wheel
  • 25-inch touchscreen navigation system
  • Bose premium stereo
  • Wireless device charging
  • Head-up display
  • Safe-exit warning
  • Digital Key for Android phones
  • 360-degree camera system
  • Blind spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert

Should I Buy the 2023 Hyundai Sonata?

The Hyundai Sonata is a great choice for car shoppers who want room for five people but don’t need the girth of a typical SUV. Relaxed driving manners and a choice of powertrains means there’s a Sonata for all types of drivers. The N Line is especially fun to drive, thanks to its 290-hp, turbo four-cylinder and firmer suspension settings, but it’s the Sonata’s long roster of standard comfort and safety features that’s likely to be the biggest draw for shoppers in search of a budget-friendly mid-size sedan.
