It's a shame more people were not familiar with this car before Chevrolet stopped producing them. I drive on EV mode almost all the time, except when going on long trips. There is no range anxiety with the Volt. My car is averaging 181,000 MPG lifetime.

No complaints about this car. Love everything about it. Wish I had gotten it from a different dealership though. Plug in electric is great. Rarely ever use gas unless I’m on a long road trip then it’s gas and go.

I've only had the car for a week, but gets great gas mileage. If you can believe the mileage on the dash I'm getting 38.8 mpg. It isn't a speed demon but has good pickup for a 4 cyl car. I do notice hesitation when shifting into drive but it I attribute that to lack of power. It does fine getting me where I need to go.

I needed a car with an automatic transmission because my knee was getting worse. I had a 2011 Cruze with a manual transmission and liked it but I traded it in for a 2019 Cruze. Going on six years now and I don't want another vehicle. Reliable? Very. I don't drive like a maniac and I keep up with maintenance. My usb port went kaput but I replaced it myself. My phone would not connect to the infotainment system. I fixed that by removing the fuse to the radio while it was on then turning off the car and then plugging it back in. It rebooted the system. I garage my Cruze and watch where I park it, so no dents anywhere. I intend to keep this car for as long as possible.

When the Volt first came out I would give it 5 stars for everything, now new cars coming out so I took some off but still mostly 5 stars. It is still a great value. No car is perfect but this has allowed me to avoid a lot of maintenance and repairs of regular gas cars.

Had to have the air conditioner worked on three times. $2000 twice and $500 once at 4yr, 6 yr and 7 years. Condenser then compressor then a hose. Would not let me charge it once , took it to Chevy $110 to check codes It needed a little water in the radiator.

The car met all my needs and will defiantly get me from point A to point B safely, very reliable. I will defiantly and am having a lot of fun with this vehicle.

My sonic is my baby. It has pep, and with the manual mode enabled, I get the feel of a manual when I use it to pass cars with the quicker response of an automatic. It is comfortable on log drives, I make a 1200 mile round trip every 6 weeks and it does not have the best mileage I’ve ever gotten but I can get about 330 to 350 miles on a full tank driving around 80mph on the freeway. It breezes up the grapevine in southern CA and handles the curves and windy conditions of the mountains with ease and I don’t ever feel the high winds that all of the highway advisory signs are warning about. I have out about 5000 miles on my Sonic since I got it 4 months ago and have not had any issues with it. My one complaint about the car is the MyLink radio does not support CarPlay or Android Auto like the later years and some other 2016 models with the same sound system got upgraded to which is aggravating because it causes a little inconvenience having to mount my phone to use for navigation and you lose Bluetooth support when charging the phone because it automatically connects your phone as an aux device which messes with your music if you don’t want to listen to ITunes or your stored music, which I don’t. Their BringGo navigation does work but took me the wrong way to a dead end so my phone is my only option for reliable directions. All in all, the Sonic is as sporty to drive as it looks, and it’s looks get a lot of compliments, especially the headlights.

Bought it new. Taken several road trips with and no problems ever. I still own and drive it . Love the gas milage. I get 32 mpg around my town and upto 40mpg on open road. Cargo space is tricky. Only drawback is back seats will not flatten in order to extend cargo space.

We bought a sonic lt with a 1.4 turbo engine, great gas mileage and no major problems. As long as you keep up the maintenance the reliability is great.

I bought a 2018 Premiere 7 months ago; I wanted an EV that had decent electric range and had an onboard range extender. It can go coast to coast on gas only getting over 40 MPG at highway speeds. It covers up to 50 miles on a single charge in the non-winter months and about 30 -35 miles in the winter. It charges to full in 4.5 hours using a 240 Volt charger. It has strong low speed acceleration, responsive handling and is fun to drive. It handled the worst S/E Michigan winter storm easily with just all season tires, and averages 121 MPGe. It is loaded with premium features like leather seats and steering wheel, heated front and rear seats and steering wheel, navigation, active cruise control, blind side warning, automatic low speed pedestrian braking, auto dimming headlights and a full page of standard equipment. The rare hatch area is small but very usable and can swallow bikes and lumber with the 2nd row seats folded.This car is upscale enough that it could have a Buick logo on it. I'm averaging 6 gallons of gas per month or about $20/month. My electricity costs me $0.03/kWh charging late at night (distribution costs more than doubles this cost; a full charge costs about $1.50 to go about 50 miles on the battery). It is a very comfortable highway cruiser; it is luxuriously quiet and the Bose 8 speaker system rivals the 14 speaker Bose system in our Yukon Denali. I have spent $0 for maintenance in 7 months. The brakes last many years because of the region feature (paddle and L drive modes engage region). At around $20K for a low mileage Gen 2 Volt, I can't think of a funner, higher tech car that is less expensive to operate at that price. A recent Car and Driver article recommended a 1980's Porsche as a fun, quick car to buy;. Surprisingly, the Gen 2 Volt's 0-60 time, 1/4 mile time/speed, 70-0 braking distance, and lateral g capability were the same or better than the respected German GT. It's easy to think of my Volt as a sports sedan, not as an economy car.

I had called Auto Connections early one morning to inquire about a car I’d seen on Cars.com. A nice gentleman named Stu answered the phone. I really didn’t expect anybody to be at the facility as it was only 8 am. We had a wonderful conversation about growing up in Seattle, life in general, and lastly about the car I was interested in. About 30 minutes into the conversation I asked what his relationship with the dealership was? (I had assumed he was on the maintenance staff or the cleaning crew) To my Suprise he told me he was the owner, along with his partner Keith. I told him I’d be there in 5 hours and he said Keith would be waiting for me. Upon arriving at the dealership and entering the building I was totally floored! A collection of the most amazing vehicles I had seen in a long time. The next more impressive than the first, all beautiful and in pristine condition. I looked around and nobody was in the building which I found quite odd. (Most dealerships the sales staff swarms you). Finally I found a gentlemen in a back office, his name was Keith. What a wonderful individual. We drove the car around for several blocks and returned to the dealership. Keith provided the information about the vehicle, a CARFAX, what they had checked on the car and answered every question I had. Very comfortable individual to deal with. I was sold! We agreed upon a price and I told him I’d be back in the am with a check. There was no pressure to sign anything just a handshake, trust has been established. The next morning I met Stu the other owner. He was a wonderful gentlemen and we had a nice conversation. Doing my research that evening, I had discovered some issues with this particular vehicle and had gone down a Rabbit Hole on the internet. I made my concerns heard by Stu and he reluctantly gave me a few more hundred dollars off the price of the vehicle. This was both unfair to Keith, whom I had agreed to on a price, and to Stu who hadn’t been in on the prior days negotiations. When my wife and I returned a few days later, I returned the extra monies to Stu and apologized for my selfish behavior. I asked him to also sincerely apologize to Keith as we had made a purchase agreement. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase and my experience with Auto Connections. The car was made ready and any detailing and issues were addressed by Shane, the most grifted detail man in the business. This gentlemen is truly amazing at what he can do for a car. He went the extra 100 miles, even sanded the headlights for a clear beautiful look. Auto Connections covered all their bases and have the experience to truly find the car of your dreams. I have a second Gen Volt and absolutely love it! It has its little quirks but overall is a great car....I just wish GM still made them. I have always owned GM vehicles and driven other brands but the imports are too "Tinny" sounding and loud on the road. SOme of the Fords are also this way. GM did a major disservice by discontinuing the Volt as it's the best car they made. Yes, a little smaller than a Lesabre or the other larger cars but can't beat the range and fuel economy. I do wish the electric range was bigger and had they continued to make them then I'm sure that would have improved with a solid state battery or something but I love the car. GM if you read this, we need more cars like this one! The safety and redundancy of the electronics to power it are the best and it has never left me stranded!

Keep in mind this rating is for a small gas fuel efficient economy car, it's way more than expected and for 2 years has not diminished my opinion at all. Good reliable car. Here in New England I have seen models from 2013 and newer still driven all over and even the prior avio models on the road too. BSic maintenance keeps them together. It is a good car!

My 2012 Volt was purchased brand new on Groundhogs Day, 2012, and is now 14 years old! Knock on wood, I've not had any issues with it except a tire that doesn't hold air as well as the other 3 tires. And once all of the dashboard lights came on to “Check engine”. Turns out that the computer system in the car needed to be updated, and that was that. I mainly run it on electricity around town and to nearby areas, so the mileage is in the mid-50's. However, it has been driven numerous times from Ohio to Raleigh, NC, to the Outer Banks several times, to Maryland many times, and to the Adirondacks, and often to the Cleveland Airport. So it has been driven decent miles using gasoline as well. My mpg on gasoline is typically 42, but that can vary if driving over mountains vs flat land or city driving vs country roads. It has been a very comfortable car for me. The only downside has been that heated steering wheels were not offered back then. That is the only feature that I wish it had. I've put the backseats down and over the years have transported a kayak, a bicycle, and several other large items. So useful! Heated seats make me so warm that I rarely turn on the actual car heater, which of course, helps save the battery in winter. In the winter, my mileage has been 32 miles on complete battery. But this year, it's gone down to 29 as the battery is aging. However, in the Summer, I easily get 45-50 miles. Your mpg also depends on how you drive the car. I'm not heavy-footed and tend to coast toward a red light rather than gun it then slam on my brakes. What a waste of energy! The battery regenerates while coasting, so I often will coast down hills, too. The Volt has plenty of power if in a situation where you really need a quick blast to get out of a dangerous situation — especially if running on battery. It can be up to 60 in no time! BTW, the Volt's body has held up beautifully! It looks like a new car. It has never been garaged and has sat outside in the elements for the past 14 years. My plan is to run it for many more years until issues begin to arise. But at 55,000, she's still a young pup with lots more vim and vinegar. Fingers crossed! I only wish Chevy had not converted the Volt assembly line to trucks. I think they did the general public a disservice by discontinuing them. I would buy another one if they came back.

This is a fuel efficient and modest car. It achieves 98hp has a 9 gallon tank and an automatic transmission. The LS has crank windows and old fashioned key-lock doors. You can haul a reasonable load in the back seat and hatch or even three other people, though it might be somewhat cramped. It appears to be designed for urban commuters, but I've driven it some decent distances and in all seasons now and it seems to up the challenge of all weather and (paved) terrains. The onboard technology (radio, backup camera, and internet connectivity--with Apple Play and Android Auto) is surprisingly good. Its small size makes it fit easily into small spaces. It was discontinued in 2022, so there should be parts for awhile and prices are coming down. If you need a second car, give this one some consideration.

This car would start up on the equator or in the Arctic. It doesn't matter to be hotter cold. The motor will run no matter what the cars fall apart around. The motor literally my actual rusted off. It doesn't have a frame. I welded the stuff back on and I still am driving the car. It drives like brand new still with 230000 miles on it.

I hate the back-and-forth of buying a car. There is none of that at Carmax. Prices are not negotiable but since you know how much a particular car is, you can shop around. I found the car I wanted was priced right compared to KBB and other listings with private and dealer sales. After I decided to purchase the car, I was out of there within 1 hour.

Perfect commuter car for my 75 mile roundtrip commute. Never had any battery problem and the car is perfect so far with 62000 miles. Electric is the way to go for longish regular trips.
