For over a month, I hunted for a reliable, low-mileage car with excellent safety features, low maintenance, and something within my budget. I checked online sites like Cars.com, Carfax, and CarGurus, visited around 10 dealerships (both independent lots and franchises), made tons of phone calls, and even explored Carvana and CarMax. Too many places baited me with low online prices, only to pile on thousands in hidden fees once I showed up—things like mandatory down payments, wear-and-tear charges, inspection fees, and dealership add-ons. But from this experience, I learned a lot about how dealerships really work and gained some valuable knowledge: never fully trust the prices posted online without confirming the true out-the-door cost in person. After five frustrating in-person visits, I was ready to give up on traditional dealerships and just overpay at CarMax to avoid the headaches. That’s when I spotted a listing on Cars.com from Island Subaru. The vehicle photos clearly stated “No hidden fees, no extra fees – fully transparent OTD price.” Skeptical after so many bad experiences, I decided to try one last time and walked in without an appointment or even a phone call. Right away, I met sales representative Christopher Chavous (everyone calls him Chris). He was patient, professional, and didn’t bombard me with unnecessary questions or personal info. He showed me the Crosstrek I was interested in, sat with me for two detailed test drives, and explained all the features thoroughly. The standout moment? Chris gave me the true out-the-door price immediately—no games, no surprises, exactly matching the online listing with zero hidden fees. In an industry full of tricks, this level of honesty instantly built trust, which is everything when buying a car. After some fair negotiation, the manager approved a solid discount, and we sealed the deal that same day. Since it was Saturday and close to closing (they couldn’t finish the NY inspection), they went the extra mile and loaned me a brand-new Subaru Crosstrek to drive until Monday when my car was ready. Finance manager Yuri Miyakawa handled the paperwork smoothly, got me a great rate, and made everything straightforward. But Chris truly went above and beyond—he guided me through the entire purchase process and even helped set up my first car insurance. The initial quotes were sky-high for a new driver, but Chris personally called the insurance company, advocated on my behalf, and somehow got my rate reduced to half the original quote! Since I had been declined in other dealerships I was ok with getting an older vehicle to get by for now like a 2013 for under 7k but never was I expecting to drive out with a 2018 Honda! Nour my Salesman helped me out with the entire process and set me up with a payment plan with his manager and also helped me all the way even with insurance! Definitely ask for him and give NJstateauto a shot. It's worth it.

2022 Ford Explorer review
I purchased the 2022 Timberline preowned about 1 month ago with appx 50k miles on it. I was disappointed that it does not have memory seats or a garage door remote button. (I didn't even notice this when test driving it). Who makes a car today with all the tech this car has and leaves off these 2 things! The interior is comfortable & well laid out. The ride is smooth & quiet. 2.3L turbo 4 cylinder is quiet & has amazing power. At idle it’s hard to tell that the engine is even running. The prior owner put on Michelin tires which contribute to the smooth, quiet ride. The seats are ActiveX (Ford’s name for vinyl) with cloth inserts. I’m 5’ 10” and 175lbs. My son who rode with me is 6’ 3” and 250lbs. Both of us found the seats comfortable & supportive on our 1st road trip. I’ve driven a Kia Telluride, which is a direct competitor. The Kia has a little more tech but I found the ride to be on the harsh side, especially in the second row. This may be attributable to the low profile 21” tires. The Timberline has 18” balloon tires which I much prefer. 2 weeks after purchasing it I made a 2,200-mile road trip from Dallas TX to Orgon. Fuel mileage ranged from 21 to 28 with an overall average of 24 mpg. *if I don’t drive over 70 mph on the highway the fuel economy goes up to about 32! *these numbers are from the actual miles & gallons of fuel used, not from the dash numbers, which I found are a little optimistic. It has a few bugs that I’ll have to deal with, but it’s a used Ford & not a Lexus. Overall, I'd say I'm very happy with this car & would recommend it.

2022 Ford Explorer review
I love this vehicle. My 2022 Ford Explorer XLT far exceeds my expectations. Handling is great. Performance is far better than expected. Gas mileage is 26mpg combined average for the 16,500 miles I have on the vehicle so far. The interior fit and finish could be better and the original tires...not holding up very well. The vehicle is comfortable and always a pleasure to drive. I always get compliments on the exterior style. In my opinion, it's one of the better looking SUV's on the road. The rear biased drive train give it superior handling, better than anything I test drove. Chevy, Subaru, or the Kia.

They sold me a 2024 Honda Accord. Window sticker brand new was $36,000. After their fees (Which they did have guys) taxes, dmv and state fees.. we ended up paying $33,000. $3K more than originally listed price. This is still a fair deal. The vehicle had 1.5K miles only on it. Therefore, i am ok with saving $3K-$5K all day. Because new car would have been window sticker plus tax etc. also they are very friendly. The guy in the front knows how to work magic
