Best truck I've ever had
May 30, 2018
I have the crewcab w/ the long box. I've owned it for three years and 40,000+ miles. It has been completely reliable. What I like about this is that it has all the usability of a full size truck w/ a full size 6' bed, but it is compact enough to drive and gets 50% better gas mileage.
This vehicle has a 1,570 pound payload capacity and a 7,000 pound towing capacity. Gas mileage depends on speed. At 45 mph it is 28 mpg. At 55 mph it is 24 mpg. At 65 mph it is 22 mpg (flat, level highway).
I highly recommend the 6' bed. The 5' bed is simply too short to do usable hauling or to sleep in.
I compared this to the Tacoma (and I'm such a Toyota fan that I wrote a book about them), but the Tacoma has not been overhauled in many years and the GMC beats it in everything (technology, sound level, handling, gas mileage, towing capacity, payload capacity, etc.) When Toyota finally gets around to updating the Tacoma I'm sure it will be a contender. But until then the Canyon is far superior.
Some of the features that I really like on the Canyon are: Rear camera, Lane departure warning, Forward collision warning, Wi-fi, Navigation and steps built into the bumper
