Expert 2021 Chevrolet Camaro review

our expert's take

What Is the 2021 Chevrolet Camaro?

The Camaro is Chevrolet’s answer to the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger: a rear-wheel-drive, four-seat coupe or convertible with several high-performance variants. Engine choices include a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that makes 275 horsepower; a 335-hp, 3.6-liter V-6; a 455-hp, 6.2-liter V-8; and a 650-hp, supercharged 6.2-liter V-8. All engines come with a standard six-speed manual transmission. A 10-speed automatic is optional with V-6 and V-8 engines, while an eight-speed automatic is available with the four-cylinder.

What’s New on the 2021 Chevrolet Camaro?

Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity is standard, which precludes the need for a cabled connection to the multimedia system. In addition, the available Performance Package is now available with the 10-speed automatic transmission.

What Features in the 2021 Chevrolet Camaro Are Most Important?

  • Distinctive, sporty styling
  • Quick acceleration
  • Handling and braking performance
  • Open-air motoring in convertible version

2021 Chevrolet Camaro Vs. 2021 Ford Mustang: How Do They Compare?

Both the Camaro and Mustang offer a choice of coupe and convertible body styles, manual or automatic transmissions and a range of engines that provides brisk to blistering performance. Practical considerations aren’t typically a top priority for sports car buyers, but the Mustang offers more headroom, a larger trunk and better visibility.

Should I Buy the 2021 Chevrolet Camaro?

Sure, if performance and sleek styling are far more important than fuel economy, passenger room and cargo space (and just about every other practical consideration). The Camaro has plenty of attributes to satisfy enthusiasts, but unless you’re a dyed-in-the-wool Chevy loyalist, check out the Ford Mustang for comparison. Ford and Chevy are trying to outdo each other with these cars and regularly offer new variants.

  • Great power, beautiful car, fun to drive

Super v8 performance with the 6 speed manual. Great looking, and lot's of fun with the top down. Recommend to anyone at any age. Surprisingly comfortable on the road. Not great visibility with the top up and very little o back seat room or trunk room, but it's pretty easy to overlook those minor details. Would recommend everyone get the dual mode exhaust feature - you can change sound from sport (sounds like a race car) to touring (sounds like a buick v6). Took forever to get my 2023 (2022 order got canceled), but it was worth the wait. You'll get a lot of car for the price.

  • 2021 CHEVY CAMARO

The car to this point has been a good running vehicle. However i am not thrilled about the run flat tires, no jack or spare and the absense of a catch can for the direct port injection 6.2 engine. Chevy could have done better,

  • A Dream Car

Everything you can think of for a true sports car and a car with a lot of character! Performance is through the roof. Comfort is not great but it's nothing something you need in such car. Exterior design is great - I see kids staring at it or poking their dads to look and ask them what is this car... and it makes my day every time! This is how I became a car enthusiast and driving this car spreads a lot of passion! The car also has all the right noises and nothing is fake in it! I have the manual Tremec and V8 - and this is the combination a recommend! A true dream car!

  • Bad Factory Assembly

Didn’t notice how many scratches this new car had, when I bought it. Amateurs cleaning up the cars, with washed induced marring. Had to polish out a brand new car myself...

It has a lot more "giddy up" than my 2017 RS Camaro. This is the first SS Camaro that I have owned. It will not be the last.
