2023 Toyota GR86 review
As a bachelor who seldom carries passengers or cargo, I found myself increasingly interested in a sort of "lifestyle" car that would make my daily commute more interesting. While the 2023 GR86 really comes alive when you want to drive it like a felon with a warrant, I also love it equally as much for its ability to putter around town undisturbed. The 2.4 liter FA24 engine is zippy enough for darting through any and all traffic, plus the lightweight chassis makes me think I'm in a psuedo-Mazda Miata coupe [albeit with gobs more storage space on the inside.] I love this super quick and telepathic steering feel, too. Being 5' 6", I don't think I could ask for any more car than this. The interior has good cupholders, a glovebox big enough for a Bible, and 360° visibility. The seats themselves are supportive, snug, and easy for ingress/egress, while the bolsters aren't hyper-aggressive like the Honda Civic Type R so you won't destroy them if you're driving the car 7 days a week. At the end of the day, who has the disposable income to plunk down $75,000+ on a Porsche 718 Cayman or a Lotus Evora? Thankfully for us mere mortals who weren't born with a silver spoon in our mouths, we can take home a $30,000 GR86 and have a pure, connected, rear-wheel-drive driving experience for less than half the cost.

Had a serious transmission problem less than a year after purchase but the MaxCare warranty took care of it, plus provided a rental for the week they had my car, no questions or problems, only had to pay deductible of 100 on a 2200 repair. Excellent experience all the way around, I've recommended several people to them. Will definitely go back when I'm ready for my Camaro!! :-)

2023 Toyota GR86 review
Current owner of a 2023 Premium MT, first standard transmission car and first sports car. Came with the GR Exhaust Package. Almost 2,000 miles on the car, mostly town driving besides roughly 800 miles traveling back and forth for the holidays. I am a younger buyer, and I've been told by who knows how many people how inconvenient a sports car is to own, especially as your only car. This car has defied every expectation of that. I was able to load the back with a bunch of luggage and boxes, it more than carries everything I need. I am more comfortable in this stiff, low, budget sports car than i am in my old 2012 Lexus RX350. The seats in the premium are unreal. My town has really rough roads meant for pickups, so for this car to remain comfortable is really something. In terms of performance, it is always so much fun to drive, even if its just to the grocery. They could have gone further with the motor, but its a minor complaint. The steering is effortless but so precise. Every issue i have is a minor nitpick. The opening for the trunk is a little too small, the cupholder placement is annoying, and you cant access other vehicle information on the gauge cluster while in track mode. The only major issue (minor for a sports car) is the MPG. I currently have 23.5 and dropping. I have no idea how the reviewer got 29mpg out of this car. But again, sports car, not a Prius. Its not what its supposed to do. Possibly the best car on sale today when you consider its value. Puts a Miata to shame with practicality, performance, handling, and even shifter and experience (aside from the convertible option).

2024 Toyota GR86 review
Most fun you can have in an affordable two door sports car. It corners and brakes like a go-cart. Acceleration is better than I expected and running through the gears (manual trans) is exhilarating. Fun, joy are words that come to mind. Always puts a smile on my face.

I went to Carmax on 4th of July. The place was not super packed, so that was great. We had a little 9th month old on tow, and were nervous that it would take us all day to shop. The only thing that took a lot of time was waiting for a sales man. Apparently, the new young guys at the front were more interested in flirting (yes flirting) with each other and playing around than realizing that we needed help or just plainly asking us if we were being helped. That really bothered me, as we wasted 30 mins just sitting dumb. The front desk girl was no help.. she was the one to tell us to sit and wait and then no where to be seen. Finally someone professional and extremely courteous walked by ... the service manager. He quickly apologized for our wait, and brought along Daniel Claudio. I am SOOOOOOOOOOOooooO thankful he did. Danny was professional, kind, humble, hard-working, and just all the way a pleasure to work with. He represented Carmax the way it should be. He took the details of what we were looking for and walked us around to cars that would fit our needs. 2017 Toyota 86 review
Naturally, I love my car especially for its handling. It won’t beat a corvette or a lot of other muscle cars for acceleration ; after all it’s only 200 hp. But it is a nice vehicle nonetheless and for my needs has plenty of power.
