Let down by quality issues unknown to Japanese vehicles and ridiculous service and repair costs. I love the car but dread any encounter with the dealer in North Tampa.. I think their service charges are equal to BMW and Mercedes.

i love this car, mine is the tornado red and i have put machined gold rims on it with a slightly wider tire for more road grip. i definitely recommend wider tires on this as the stockies just do not hold the road like a wider thick tire (and it looks awesome so). i have had to replace the heater blower motor resistor, easy fix took about 30 mins and the piece is 20 bucks. i also had a kick in the gut with the notoriously bad water pumps on these cars. it took a few hours, some special tools, a lot of patience, and $400 for the pump. if you buy this car beware you will have to replace the water pump at around 100k they just were not quality stock so they get broken seals and what not. you can still drive it with a bad water pump, i don't recommend, but be prepared to put coolant in it like gas as it will just keep leaking out. enough with the bad, i gave this car a high review for a reason, smoothest ride i have ever had, steers like a boss--i mean seriously no car holds curves like this one, the interior is unmatched it is so beautiful and the plain seats are unique and give great back support. i hate that the center console lacks so much storage but it has a decent sized dash to make up for it. overall this car has insane performance, holds value, and has a unique and unmatched overall look on the inside and outside. do not hesitate to buy this, the only downside is the water pump.

This car is a SLEEPER, despite the seemingly “Low” 150 horsepower, this car takes off like a rocket from a stand-still, it accelerates briefly quick. Bought this car at around 120k miles. All the stories and rumors you’ve heard about German cars or volkswagen being unreliable, this car certainly proved me wrong and brought me comfort. Even though it is not MY car, my brother owns the 07 6 speed automatic (with tiptronic transmission) and it is quite amazing. The throttle response is unbelievable in the tiptronic mode (+ and -). Although if you’re worried about not shifting at the right time, it will automatically upshift/downshift for you, the computer overrides as a safety feature. I will be honest, i drive my brother’s rabbit A LOT, and the sports mode is pretty DECENT at high speeds, there’s no major improvement besides higher RPM so it will shift later (brings more power out of each gear before automatically going into the next one) . It just makes the engine roar but everyone’s experience is different! Just sharing mine. The handling is an absolute 10/10 and when given enough gas from a stand still, the wheels will spin a little bit even with traction control on. Another Pro that i think people overlook but is very important, One day i was in a rush to get to work on time and i was going a little fast and had to (safely) cut someone off to get in the far left lane so i was going too fast considering i needed to come to a stop, i slammed on the brakes and the car DID NOT skid or lose control, the brakes surprised me and i thought i was going to crash but it stopped just in time. The braking distance is quite amazing on this car. Now this is not a CON but a little bit of a concern. Considering it only has 150hp, it is relatively QUICK, in all aspects just like its origin name ‘Rabbit’. Though i did notice it struggles A LITTLE BIT around the 80-100mph mark. So if you need to pass someone make sure you have good tires and your tires are rated for 90+ mph. AND DO NOT BE SCARED TO USE FULL THROTTLE, IT IS BETTER TO GET PULLED OVER THAN TO LOSE/TAKE A LIFE. Another really good pro, is the kick-down function, the pedal rests on the floor, so when you press it down ALL THE WAY you will feel a little click, like there’s a second step for the pedal, that’s the kick down function and when you use it for whatever reason it may be like passing someone in front of you or in an emergency. Depending on how fast you’re going (i will provide example below) it will always drop 2 gears and take off just as quick as a rabbit does. When you are in a 60mph zone and the person in front of you isn’t going fast enough for your liking or you just want to pass them, you mash the gas down all the way and you’ll maybe drop 1 gear (it will downshift into 5th gear) but if you push it all the way down to the floor you’ll feel that click and it will downshift from 6th to 4th gear and you will speed up very quickly reaching around 100mph in a matter of 5-8 seconds. It is very useful if the cars in oncoming lane is coming your way faster than you anticipated. This little car may not be fast (top speed) but it sure is QUICK. I got pulled over (just a warning) for going faster than i thought because of how quick and responsive this car is. SIDE NOTE: HEATED SEATS WITH UP TO 5 LEVELS IS AMAZING!!! it also has heated mirrors for all my people who get cold weather like ice and snow in the morning! All in all, This car is very reliable and worth purchasing. Just take care of it and i promise it will take care of you. 10/10 i recommend.

Had mine since new 88,000 fun miles on it. superby reliable. Fantastic handling, comfort for long long long drive 6 hours, and great MPG...super quick, it really does everything excellently. Out of 17+ VWs since 1987 this is the best one yet...fun personified, tracks at speed perfectly, solid grip in all weather conditions. Solid, tight, really well done car. Interior layout is ergonomic excellence. of course 6 speed manual, it's best, control and in connection with the drive.

The SUV was in great shape, and I bought the vehicle after the test drive. The added costs were more than I expected but we discussed them all and we were able to come to a deal. If you know what you want and what it's worth, these are great people to deal with.

Bought the car from a private sale with over 200k km on it. Been pretty reliable for the most part with a few problems here and there (starter went back in November but was relatively cheap to fix) other then that the intake manifold needs to be replaced. Expect issues to arise down the line of owning this car (carbon buildup, timing chain tensioner, fuel pump, cam followers etc) but aslong as you keep up with maintenance and care for the car I don’t doubt it will the car will bring you anywhere without any issues. I recently purchased A 2018 Alpina B7 from Ray at Motor Cars Of Chicago. When I purchased the car I made it clear to Ray that I was going to be in need of the title in ASAP fashion – Ray said I’d have the title within two weeks and boy did I just like he said he fulfilled the promise he made no questions asked. Also on the way home after taking delivery, I had a very minor problem that turned out to be a bad battery. Ray was unaware of when we took delivery of the car – Ray didn’t hesitate he reimbursed me for the batteries I had to have installed at the BMW dealer by the BMW dealer. He said the car was flawless and he stood behind that statement. Ray is very straightforward and no xx perhaps not full of warm fuzzies for everyone but a great way to do business, especially in the luxury and highline car business. I find Ray to be honorable direct and stand up and we’ll do business with him again if I had any reservations about doing business with them before this transaction, they are all completely gone and yours should be too. I purchased the 2020 MK7.5. I have been driving it for close to 12 months. There was minor niggles such as a blown fuse, the hlove box hinge detaching, right side mirror needing replacing because of a non functioning blind spot light. Other than that I had no reliability issues....Yet. Yes... The car is quick but not super quick, as some have stated but instead some what boring, because hardly anyone will take it on at the lights. lol It is compfortable and quality is good. You get a lot of car, hence the price. Still fahr more affordable than an Audi S3 with less power. Adding a a cutback sport system that utilises the oem flaps and an APR stage 1 ECU and DSG tube made this car even more enjoyable. Given all that, the fuel economy remained the same. I would not hesitate recommending the MK7.5 over the previous Golf R and even the MK 8. I think it is the better car out of all of them.

I bought my golf new at the end of 2016 and would have kept it much longer if it had not been totaled in an accident. The few little issues I had were covered under the initial warranty (coolant leak, trunk leak). Nothing else other than normal maintenance things like brakes and tires up to 81,000 - that's as far as I can speak to. I took good care of it, did the VW service things for the most part and I have no doubt it would have lasted to 200K or beyond. It looked cool and was fun to drive. I had the S manual. I enjoy driving and had a tiny regret about not getting the Wolfsburg edition (faster engine, slightly better options like heated seats and sun/moon roof).

This car is meant to perform. With regular maintenance and wear an tear items the vehicle has been great and reliable. Been doing Volkswagens for over 20 years now. Even though I work on them myself and for many others in my area these cars are amazing and fit my personal needs for performance and style. As well as luxury.
