RAM 1500

The redesigned 2019 Ram 1500 was wider than its predecessor, but Ram said it weighed approximately 200 pounds less than the old truck. The familiar crosshair grille was retired, replaced by a grille with large “RAM” lettering set front and center. The pickup was available only in Quad Cab and crew-cab configurations; the two-door, regular-cab body style was discontinued (but still offered on carryover Ram 1500 Classic trucks built on the 2018-style Ram 1500). The new Ram 1500’s standard 3.6-liter V-6 came with Ram’s new eTorque mild-hybrid system, which added a 48-volt electric motor to provide additional torque for short periods of time and to enable a fuel-saving stop-start system; eTorque was optional with the 5.7-liter Hemi V-8. New features and trims have been added at a regular pace, including the 2021 introduction of an outrageous, high-performance off-road TRX variant with 702 horsepower. For 2025, the entire Ram 1500 line received a significant refresh that included a new flagship luxury trim called the Tungsten and the replacement of the Hemi V-8s with a new line of turbocharged inline-six-cylinder engines. 

The all-new 2009 Ram 1500 sported an evolution of the truck’s recognizable big-rig look, and the rear suspension switched from leaf to coil springs. For 2012, the pickup’s name changed from the Dodge Ram 1500 to the Ram 1500. Model-year 2013 brought a series of updates, including a new 3.6-liter V-6 engine, an available eight-speed automatic transmission and an optional four-corner air suspension. A new turbo-diesel V-6 was offered for 2014.
