2015 BMW X5 review
I’ve owned two 2015 X5D’s - daily driven for 7 years for a combined 173,000 miles (sales job), I averaged 29MPG on each tank in mixed driving (38+mpg on hwy using renewable diesel in CA), and it’s been so much more reliable than any gas car I’ve owned… The only car that compares in reliability is two BMW 328 diesels I’ve owned - I’m not going back to gas cars. I may consider Cayenne diesel as the only other alternative daily driver, otherwise I’ll stay with X5 diesels.

2023 BMW X5 review
Very comfortable, with massaging seats plus heated and cooled seats. I’m not sure that it’s a great value because it is expensive. The adaptive cruise control and the lane keeping work very well and almost make it self-driving.

2022 BMW X5 review
Our 2022 X5 was a beautiful car to us. Unfortunately it didn't work for us as my wife is handicapped and found it difficult to get in and out of - it's higher than one would expect and came to realize the seats are more inboard than other cars that are direct competitors. The 3 inch door sill was almost like a running board and contributed to her struggles. Even though we had the multi-contour seats, we found the lower cushion seat side bolsters too firm for any drive more than an hour. The seat back was fine. While driving around town and 2 lanes was great, it didn't track as well on the highway as one would expect, even after an alignment (it was off at delivery). Our old Volvos were much better in that regard. The positives include the exterior and interior design/layout, the quality, ride, handling and power. It also still has a few buttons, albeit a bit small when driving. The headlights were awesome and the gas mileage was better than expected, 21 around town and 28+ on the highway. Our situation is unique, and after 7 months we sold the car to a tall, able bodied couple.

2021 BMW X5 review
I frequently change cars because I love to learn and experience new vehicles. I bought a new 2020 RR Defender and traded it after 5 months for the X5. I wasn't really looking for a new car but fell in love with the X5 while accompanying a friend on a test drive. I really like that it handles like an ultimate driving machine. And the drive characteristics are extremely customizable. It's quiet, quick and comfortable. No squeaks or rattles - the RR had a few. It's a solid German example of automotive excellence.

2018 BMW X5 review
Before you buy any BMW older than 2018, check out the Isley V BMW lawsuit. You will find the V8 in all pre 2018 BMW's to be problematic for oil leaks and valve stem failures due to defective engine design and excessive heat. I have this X5 with the V8 and it's a wonderful car to drive and look at. It's my 5th BMW and by far the most reliable. Unfortunately, even with all the meticulous care, my car has experienced the oil leak and smoking exhaust, just like all the N63 & N63TU engines through 2018 will experience this problem and the cost to repair exceeds $20K from the dealer. The salesman pointed out that in addition to the cost of the extended warranty, I would need to buy new tires. The salesman found a 2025 model for me that was similar to the 2022. At first, I was undecided. When I went back for the recall repair, I decided to buy the 2025 Bronco the salesman recommended. I love my new Bronco. I am glad I listened to his advice.
2024 BMW X5 review
I have this car for 26,000 miles now. This is the best X5 that I have ever owned. The new engine is great on the xdrive 40i. No need for the M60. 0-60 in 3.9 seconds. Handling is great. Tires and much better than on the previous generation. The ride is tight and comfortable. They did an awesome job. Hopefully, this car will last as long as my previous 2010 X5.

2025 BMW X5 review
Purchased my fifth BMW, a 2025 X5 m40i. My last BMW was A 2024 X5 M60i so I have a little experience with both the V6 and V8 X5. The 8 cylinder is a beast and very fast, but the X5 is more of a luxury SUV than a performance car, so I opted for the Turbo Charged six cylinder. Plenty of power and about 10 mpg better gas mileage. I enjoy technology and have all the available packages. I find the tech reliable and easy to operate. I have 22” black wheels on my BMW, so I opted for the optional wheel and tire warranty as I’ve always had wheels fail by hitting pot holes, etc.
