Should've bought a Honda

Car doesn't feel stable driving past 55+. My new car also came with a bent rim, which probably was done either in transportation or the dealership. I regret purchasing the Impreza, I should've gone with my instinct and got a Honda or Toyota. Much smoother ride.

Just Buy It

We had Subarus' before. A 2015 impresario, and a 2021 legacy, we traded the impreza for. We drove the legacy for about a year, and was never really happy with all the bells, and whistles, even though it would be great for someone who likes all those features. I have owned a lot of cars, and this 2023 Impreza is my favorite....

2023 Subaru Impreza review: Our expert's take

What Is the 2023 Subaru Impreza?

The Subaru Impreza is a compact car available as a sedan or four-door hatchback. Competing against the likes of the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla, the Impreza is equipped with a 152-horsepower, horizontally opposed 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and five-speed manual transmission; a continuously variable automatic transmission is optional. What really sets the Impreza apart is the standard fitment of all-wheel drive on every trim: The added grip is a boon for car buyers on a budget who routinely navigate slick roads.

What’s New on the 2023 Subaru Impreza?

The 2023 Impreza sedan and hatchback are carryovers from the previous model year. A redesigned Impreza — in hatchback form only — debuts for 2024.

What Features in the 2023 Subaru Impreza Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • 6.5-inch touchscreen multimedia system
  • Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity
  • 60/40-split, folding backseat
  • Keyless entry
  • Front USB port
  • Tilt/telescoping steering wheel
  • Rearview camera

Available features include:

  • Power moonroof
  • Heated front seats
  • Automatic air conditioning
  • Push-button start
  • 8-inch touchscreen
  • Navigation
  • Harman Kardon premium stereo
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Lane departure steering assist
  • Blind spot warning
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Reverse automatic braking
  • Adaptive LED headlights

Should I Buy the 2023 Subaru Impreza?

The Impreza is a solid value, and standard all-wheel drive makes it a worthy alternative not only to other compact sedans and hatches, but also to small SUVs like the Honda HR-V,  Nissan Kicks and Toyota Corolla Cross. There’s a paucity of standard active-safety features on the Impreza, unfortunately, though many are available on upper trims. Performance from the 152-hp four-cylinder isn’t exactly dazzling, but it’s easy on your fuel budget. If cargo space is a prime consideration, the Impreza hatchback’s roomier cargo area gives it the edge over the sedan.
