Ourisman Chevrolet Marlow Heights MD, Sales
April 6, 2023
By DR. JEFFREY SMITH from Capitol Heights, MD
My experience at the dealership within the sales department on 03/21/23 was great. It started out in the service department when I dropped off my 2014 Corvette C7 which was running hot as a result of the recent service repairs at Ourisman Chevrolet, Marlow Heights, MD. In January 2023, I was provided an invoice in excess of $10k to replace the clutch actuator cylinder, and according to Aisha, service recommendations. The C7 had only been driven 25K miles. The C7 was in the shop at Ourisman Chevrolet for more than 2 months. I had to call each time to request a status update on the vehicle.
I would also like to add I had a horrible experience with the service advisor, Aisha and service manager, Kelly. Kelly shared that it was costing the dealership $10k a day to have my Corvette C7 in his garage. I felt very disrespected. I planned to keep my C7 which was paid in full but decided to wait in the lobby while Kelly and his team diagnose the vehicle. Kelly decided to waive the $200 fee that Aisha charged me because I had spent thousands within the past 3 weeks of the repairs at Ourisman Chevrolet, Marlow Heights, MD.
Meanwhile, I decided to check out the C8 while waiting on the C7 diagnostic. Kenneth Jones approached me in the lobby and turned out to be an exceptional salesperson. Mr. Brown, the sales manager was also extremely helpful. I decided to purchase the C8 when Aisha told me that the car may be leaking coolant but they were unable to assess where the leak was located. Aisha suggested that I drive the car for a week to determine if it continued to run hot. This advice should never be provided to a customer who paid thousands less than a month ago at the same service center.
During the purchase of the C8, the finance manager, Maybel unfortunately was not as impressive as the Mr. Jones and Mr. Brown. He offered warranties, ceramic coating, and a few other protections where I explained I was not interested. He insisted and I told him, I was reconsidering purchasing as a result of his high pressure sales tactics.
Example; after the 3rd time I told him I was not interested in the additional coverages, he asked if I had a Costco membership and he stated I would receive a discount with my membership on the purchase of the protections.
Additionally, he brought the sales manager, Mr. Brown into the finance department to further explain how I could receive a discount using my Costco membership. I explained to both Maybel and Mr. Brown that the sale would not close with the additional charges along with the unwanted coverages and protections the finance manager offered.
Once they realize that the sale would not close, Maybel decided to have me initial and sign the declination of the offers. I agreed to the GAP insurance and the sale closed.
Overall, I would never recommend a family member or friend to use the service department at Ourisman Chevrolet in Marlow Heights, MD. I do not plan to take my new C8 there for service.
The sales experience was great. Mr. Jones and Mr. Brown were very professional and I would recommend a family member or friend to purchase from them. Maybel may need refresher training as the finance manager and should refrain from high pressure sales especially if the customer has shared and provided objections more than once that he or she is not interested.
The service manager, Kelly and Aisha may benefit from refresher training also.

Owns this car
This model line continues to amaze me as I trade them in every 5-8 years. The 2018 is the most improved of them all. If you've never driven a 5-series or a BMW for that matter, treat yourself!
