  • it's really best car my family has owned

It's got great acceleration, great seating room with 7 seats, it has a huge market of aftermarket parts and upgrades like LED Headlights and Headlight assemblies, it gets about 16 MPG combined 20 Highway and at worst 13-14 City (try not to let it idle), it's the MOST reliable Vehicle my Family has owned and the EASIEST to work on (Thank God), it runs like a dream at 270,000 miles! We've had it for almost 8 years now and it's part of the Family for sure!

  • Great running and very reliable

Has plenty of room for tall people and big faimlys hauls a good bit with second and third row seats down plenty of Clarence and holds up well towing goes well in the winter and off road also handles very well on highway but gas milage could be better but what do you expect for a v8

  • Good everyday family hauler

I love the styling as it is still a good looking SUV (really a high riding station wagon since the S in SUV stands for sport (offroad rock climbing swamp crossing sport)) We don't want to not be cool though and drive a bulky wagon so let's call them SUVs and then we will be driving a cool car. LMBO how we fall for marketing, still my original thought of how good it looks holds regardless if you pretend it's an SUV or admit to driving a bulky wagon on stilts. The vehicle has plenty of power but poor gas mileage (Can't expect great mileage with these types of vehicles though) It isn't sporty but isn't to slow either, easily merge onto highways and keep up with traffic. Large, with a usable 3rd row, yet not difficult to park ir drive around. Reliability seems really great as mine is still running and that's with all the original major components. Brakes, belts and other normal maintenance items are all that have been done. Very comfy no matter the length of the drive.

  • Most Reliable car I have ever owned

I currently own a 1999 Dodge Durango and it is the best car I have ever had. My baby currently has 298,000 miles on it and nothing has ever been replaced in the car. Last year I replaced the original battery - the car guys had to use acid to get the battery out. Best and most reliable car I've ever owned.

  • Great value, style, reliability! Poor fuel economy

I have had this truck for a long, long time and have had few issues with it. What issues that I have had are all related to the destructive forces of road salt that my local government needlessly dumps on the roads. I am going to buy another one from the south when this one is too rusty to service (too bad, only have 98,000 miles on it). I am 6'3" and love the head and leg room that it offers. It also pulls and stops very well with medium size trailer in tow. The interior is typical Chrysler - plasticy, but well laid out. The 318cu engine is thirsty but strong. I also love the exterior styling!

  • Worst reliability of 10 vehicles I have owned

We liked the 1999 Durango even though it was a gas hog. It was comfortable, solid and quiet inside. Seating seven made it great for transporting kids. However, even though the dealer did all of the scheduled maintenance, after about 50K miles it was one thing after another. So far all lines (brake, fuel, transmission, cooling, AC) have been replaced or repaired. We had mysterious electrical problems with doors, windows, dashboard and sound system with costs totaling thousands of $s for labor and parts. Then the Durango would just shut off when we were driving down the road. It took several trips to the dealer and $$$ before they fixed the shutdown problem and it happened twice again a few years later. The ball joints failed prematurely which is a known problem with the 1999 Durango. At this point with 135K miles on it: - Have to disconnect the battery after using or it will be dead in three days because of mysterious current drains that shouldn't happen with the key out of the ignition - The sound system sounds like it is being tortured. - Hardly any air comes out of the Heating/cooling system even with the blower on full (the back seat ceiling mounted AC still works great). - The transmission is having some problems shifting. - The universal joints have worn out - The steering is loose - The valve covers are leaking oil We have a 2005 Prius. It has 200K miles on it. In the beginning there were a few dealer recalls that were fixed for free. Since then we only had to replace the auxiliary battery (the small one) and have the hybrid battery reconditioned and some cells replaced in 2015 for about $1.5K and that's it! The Prius is the most reliable vehicle we have ever owned. The Durango...the worst.

  • A Good Car from Point A to B

The 99' dodge Durango is very spacious inside and can be a very reliable car. While it is not the fastest car it makes up for it by being safe and dependable. What I like most is the power seating options you can raise or lower you seat in any direction being short myself I need to be higher than most cars allow you to be. The turning radius is very good and parking is a breeze. It's a great beginner car for up and coming young drivers.

  • great suv

I bought my Durango new back in 1999. it now has 103,000 miles on it. From my kids using it for school to harsh winters pulling out friends and family in ditches my Durango known to my family as the blue beast will do anything. Pulling toys works great always starts. Now im a maintence fanatic. AC compressor went out around 80k miles and for 2500.00 to fix I did not fix it. at 90k miles front seal started leaking now as a mechanic if you fix a rear or front seal leak can start leaking again so on a 17 yr old vehicle don't fix not worth the money just check your oil every 2 weeks with avg driving and add oil as needed youll be fine. Overall in closeing its been a great vehicle by far better then many out there now. Dodge has always made good vehicles you can depend on. 27 yr mechanic--
