Ford updated the Expedition for 2025 with freshened styling and an upgraded tech suite, so for 2026, some equipment and options get shuffled around, but there are no major changes to the big family bus. It’s available in regular and extended-length Expedition Max body styles, the latter with its wheelbase stretched 9 inches. That doesn’t net any additional occupant space, but it expands cargo volume significantly. If you need three rows of seats and the ability to tow up to 9,600 pounds, the Expedition is a spacious and comfortable way to check those boxes.

Release Date and Pricing
The 2026 Ford Expedition is on sale now, and pricing for the standard-wheelbase Expedition is below. The Active, Platinum and King Ranch are available in both the standard and Expedition Max sizes, the latter for an additional $3,000; the Tremor is only available with the shorter body.

Trim Levels and Safety Features
Even the entry-level Expedition Active is generously equipped. It rides on 18-inch aluminum wheels and features LED headlights and taillights, a power liftgate, trailer-hitch receiver, integrated trailer-brake controller and Ford’s Pro Trailer Backup Assist. This last feature eases reversing with a trailer attached by allowing drivers to steer the trailer directly with a knob on the dash instead of using the steering wheel to point the back of the SUV in the opposite direction they want the trailer to go. Interior features include cloth upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, a second-row bench seat for eight-occupant seating, a tilt/telescoping steering column, push-button start, three-zone automatic climate control and second-row seat controls. In-car tech consists of a six-speaker audio system, 24-inch driver display, and 13.2-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The Platinum adds standard four-wheel drive, an upgraded cooling system, 20-inch wheels, rain-sensing windshield wipers, a panoramic moonroof, hands-free power liftgate and keyless entry. Inside, it features leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front-row seats, heated second-row captain’s chairs, a power-adjustable steering column, heated steering wheel, 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system and ambient lighting.
Aimed at families who might venture off-road, the Tremor rides on a lifted suspension and 18-inch wheels wearing all-terrain tires. It keeps the Platinum’s luxury features and adds skid plates, tow hooks, a unique grille, and black exterior trim with gold accents.
The King Ranch trim level gives the Expedition a makeover outside and in. Exterior upgrades include bronze-painted 22-inch wheels and trim, as well as power-operated running boards. Inside are exclusive two-tone leather upholstery, unique trim and a 22-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system.
Ford Co-Pilot360 Active 2.0 is standard on all 2026 Expeditions. This advanced safety suite includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-centering steering, blind spot monitors with trailer coverage, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera system and automatic high beams. Ford’s BlueCruise semi-autonomous hands-free highway-driving tech is optional on the Active and standard on the rest of the lineup (note that a subscription is required to keep the system operational).

Powertrain Specs and MPG
Every 2026 Ford Expedition is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine. In standard tune, the V-6 puts out 400 horsepower and 480 pounds-feet of torque. A high-output version is optional for the Platinum as part of the Platinum Ultimate and Stealth Performance packages and standard in the Tremor; oddly, it’s not available in the range-topping King Ranch. This version of the V-6 generates 440 hp and 510 pounds-feet. A 10-speed automatic transmission backs up the 3.5-liter V-6 either way.
Rear-wheel drive is standard, 4WD is a $3,000 option on the base Active trim, and 4WD is standard on the rest of the lineup. Official EPA estimates for 2026 are not yet available, but for 2025, the Expedition with RWD returned an EPA-rated 16/24/19 mpg city/highway/combined; 4WD versions are rated at 15/22/18 mpg.
