2018 Volkswagen Beetle review
This Beetle was my car that I traded in recently for a new Tiguan. The car was excellent, and always reliable. We wanted to own one of the last Beetles made, and glad that we purchased it from Mt. After trading in the old Volvo station wagon for our XC60 nearly 12 years ago (a very positive experience), my primary contact has been with the service department (BTW, the first 5 years of service were free). 90K service today. Mitch was my primary contact, and Skylar set me up with a great 2026 XC60 loaner. Scheduling and drop-off went smoothly. Mitch explained what to expect with the 90K check. He then communicated mid-morning by text message with links to the overall service report along with narrated videos taken by the technicians (first time I've seen this - amazing!) explaining additional recommended repairs and things that were less urgent but need watching. I was then able to approve or defer these items online. The loaner was nice while it lasted, but it was reassuring to hear that the car is in great shape and will last a little longer for now. Pick-up was easy, aside from paying the bill (nothing new - it's always $1000 give or take). The 15% off coupon from Volvo took the edge off. RJM

I traded in my Buick Enclave for a VW Beetle over 6 years ago and have loved it nearly every day. The Turbo engine is fantastic. It's been a great little car. The only complaint is that it's not great (at all!) in the snow. Other than that, two thumbs up.

We recently purchased a 2019 Beetle S model. We were looking for a basic car and when compared to anything out there, nothing came close in the drive feel. The Beetle shines when compared to all of the other base model cars. The ride is nimble, agile in traffic and fast! For a small car, the Beetle feels smooth and attached to the driving experience. I have owned a number of VW's and am impressed with our Beetle. Great pickup, very roomy inside, soooo comfortable, lots of bells and whistles. Heated seats, side mirror defrost. Great sound system, and the speakers have cool colored lights around them if you want. Love the manual transmission option. I can sit comfortably driving this car for 16 hours straight. I really cannot think of 1 bad thing to say about it!

2013 Volkswagen Beetle review
I was initially looking for a used Golf, but the more I looked at the Beetle the more I liked it. When I found the one I ended up buying, it was love at first drive. This little car packs a punch with the 2.0T, and will throw you back in your seat. It’s an absolute blast to drive. Handles well around town and on the interstate, where it could easily get one in trouble since it wants to GO. The same engine as is found in the GTI, so this should be unsurprising. Easily gets 30+mpg on the highway when cruising along, typically around 20-25 city. These cars handle city driving just fine, but they are meant for the freeway in my opinion. I find the interior to be quite luxurious. Heated leather seats (not available in the Golf) with plenty of storage compartments. Not many frills, just a sleek and mostly practical dash. The trunk is big enough for grocery runs, and the rear seats fold forward for larger loads. It’s not going to haul large appliances or furniture, although it could possibly carry some bigger stuff on a roof rack. The Fender audio system is impressive, wouldn’t change a thing about it except it could benefit from an updated head unit with CarPlay. This hasn’t been an issue for me. I think the car is a real looker, it turns heads and has drawn the occasional compliment. My used model had some imperfections, but it’s still a great looking car that I want to look after and keep for as long as I can. It feels well built, the doors close with the satisfying weighty thud of a premium vehicle. Overall, I am very happy with my 2013 beetle. It’s not only fun, but it seems to be reliable with a couple caveats that some owners might not be aware of. The 2.0T engine is designed for premium fuel, using regular will eventually damage it. The 2.5 can run regular, but I believe the 1.8T will also want premium. The reason for this is lower octane fuel will cause detonation in these high compression engines. If you don’t know what detonation is, just know it’s bad. The oil needs changed more regularly than the manufacturer recommended 10k miles. 5k to be safe, 7k at a stretch. This is especially true for higher mileage vehicles. Speaking of stretch, there is a known issue with some 2.0T engines where the timing chain stretches over time and many miles, so if buying used that’s something I’d have a mechanic check out. This is an expensive maintenance item, but IF it’s needed, getting it done along with the tensioner and a new water pump for good measure will ensure that the new to you Beetle is reliable for many years and miles to come. The other issue is carbon build up. Getting it cleaned out is not as spendy as the timing chain but it’s also not a cheap fix. I believe this can largely be avoided by using top tier fuel (it contains detergents that help with this) as well as regular oil changes and some regular spirited driving. Would not recommend this car to someone who mainly does town or city driving, the 2.5 engine might be better suited for that. According to my research, the 2.5 is quite bulletproof BUT it’s not good for any engine to be driven at low RPM all the time.

2017 Volkswagen Beetle review
Since I was 14 years old I’ve wanted a VW Beetle. Now, Retired and Bored, I finally got one. On January 14, 2019 I met Angel, my 2017 VW Beetle. I chose the name Angel because it immediately makes me think of my guardian angels, my protectors. With its beautiful, winning smile (front and back) and dreamy features (lots of bells and whistles), it was “LOVE at first SMILE.” But when I took Angel for a drive, the Turbo-charged engine took my breath away. An energetic match - POWER and FUN! Moreover, Angel’s advanced safety features have really helped me avoid accidents. I promise you, the ride and handling is up there with the higher end cars. 2017 Volkswagen Beetle review
This car combines the best of the GTI with the looks of a rally car. Some Bugs are boring, but this one has the Dune trim package - turbo, fin on the back, 18-inch alloy wheels, sun roof, Apple Carplay, keyless entry and start, Fender premium sound package, heated seats, backup camera... Fun to drive, plenty of jump (my old car was a GTI - not quite that much jump, but more than enough to zip you through traffic) and a smooth ride.

2014 Volkswagen Beetle review
The car is easy to enter and exit. The engine is very responsive and the stability is outstanding. It loves the back roads with twists and turns. Everything electrical and mechanical works and has never been a problem or needed repair. Service intervals are 10,000 miles so it is easy to afford.
