Great Truck, Terrible (6 Speed) Transmission

I bought a brand new 2017 Silverado 2x4 LT Crew Cab with the 5.3 v8 and 6 speed auto. The truck looks awesome, drives great, has a nice and plush ride, and the 5.3 is a truly excellent powerplant with all the power you need. This was my first Chvey truck after owning a bunch of Fords and I went back to a Ford. While the Silverado looks great, the build quality just isn't on par with Ford IMO. For one, the 6 speed auto (GL80) transmission is terribly tuned (like really bad). The shifts are slow, it's jerky, and there is noticeable hesitation especially when the truck is cold which really killed the experience for me. I even had the truck feel like it was cutting out at times with a rocky back and forth pulsing ride. Drive a new F150 with the 10 speed transmission back to back and compare how smooth it is in comparison to the 6 speed Chevy, seriously. I'm not a Ford fanboy, but Ford really did their homework on the 10 speed in comparison. My only other gripe is build quality of the Chevy. The interior is beautiful and very comfortable and everything is where it's supposed to be -- but there are rattles everywhere. The 2018 F150 I replaced the 2017 Silverado with is vault quiet by comparison. The Silverado had various panels that vibrated, loose pieces in the headliner, a driver's door air leak from day 1, and something in the seats would make a loud clicking noise when going over bumps or when you'd move around. All of this was just a bit disappointing considering I'm not hard on vehicles at all and this was a truck with a ridiculous sticker price of $45,000. If they're going to charge premium prices for pickups, customer expectations go right up with the price. I only owned the truck for 14 months because I didn't have confidence in how it would hold up long term so I traded it in on a smooth, quiet, and rock solid 2018 F150.

My old car was my third minivan in 15 years. Now that my kids are older and leaving for college, I wanted something that could carry 6 or 7 passengers but was ... well... NOT a minivan. I did some research on late model used three-row SUVs, and found the 2017 Nissan Pathfinder. (My favorite of my three vans was a 2005 Nissan Quest, so choosing Nissan was easy for me.) Before I started browsing for cars, I applied for credit through Carvana, and was approved. Next, I entered in all of the information about the van I was trading for the Pathfinder. (Beware -- the trade-in amount is only good for 7 days, and it can change wildly in that time!) I was pleased with the trade amount, and it was great that I could shop for my new car and see my down payment and monthly payment for every car I viewed! My specifications were pretty clear -- AWD, less than 10,000 miles, and never a rental car. I found my dream car a few days later, and started the purchase process. It was quite smooth and the directions were very clear about what documents need to be uploaded. When I went to click on "finalize purchase" (or something like that), a red flag popped up...my trade-in value expired WHILE I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF CHECKING OUT! I got on chat with Carvana staff right away, and they were able to return the trade in value to NEARLY what it was before the expiration. This is something that needs to be addressed by Carvana -- once a customer is to a certain point in the process, those numbers need to be frozen. So we set a delivery time, and the Carvana rep was pretty much on time considering he was traveling 70 miles or so from the Chicago office. Everything was smooth -- signed a couple more papers, took my Pathfinder for a spin, Eric inspected my trade, and I left within 30 minutes with my new car. I would also like to add that I drove directly to my mechanic, so he could inspect the car and make sure I wasn't buying something with hidden damage. I live in Nashville, TN and located my Certified Pre-Owned 2017 Cadillac CTS Premium Luxury 3.6L AWD in Red Obsession Tintcoat online through Heritage Cadillac's website, which was well laid-out and easy to navigate. When I made the call to the dealership sales department, I was pleasantly greeted by Mr. Charles Hughes. I was surprised by his cheerful personality and upbeat tone and in that moment I realized that I made the right call. Something just felt different... When I asked him questions about the car, he went the extra mile to make sure that the car was equipped as advertised and even sent me the build sheet that listed every option and package on the vehicle. He then went on to describe all of the benefits of the Certified Pre-Owned Warranty which was very helpful. He also did all of this VERY FAST. THESE PEOPLE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. After thinking it over I decided to let them give me a bid on my trade-in. I had a number in my head that I wanted for it and after they did the sight-unseen appraisal based on the VIN # and everything else, Mr. Charles Hughes called me to deliver the result. He gave me the number straight up and I was AGAIN surprised that they offered exactly what I had expected. At that moment I knew that I was about to buy the car AND I HADN'T EVEN SEEN IT IN PERSON YET. I put a deposit down over the phone to hold the car and then made arrangements to travel to Chicago to do the deal. That very next weekend I drove the 11 hours from Nashville, TN to Heritage Cadillac in Lombard, IL and made my purchase with Mr. Charles Hughes, who had the vehicle waxed and cleaned, sitting inside their delivery bay awaiting my arrival. Great Truck for the money

This truck is a great truck. Not a huge truck but big enough to fit kids seats inside and a full size bed. There is a problem with the drivers seat, it wiggles around, especially for larger men. It’s a manufacturer problem and they refuse to fix it. Other than that we have been very pleased with this truck.

Josh/Dan great job or "the story of a man who didn't bet"

My family (3 adult kids and I) had bought our last 8 cars from another dealer in the Chicago area because they had always given us the best price. Josh and the sales manager Dan beat all the other dealers price with their 1st offer!!!! Equally as important, I came in on lunch break needing to get back to work and Josh accurately took my information which included a GM card earnings (points) and a Chevy incentive to buy back my old lease. Some of the other dealers screwed up those incentives and I had to re-explain over and over to them how the incentives worked. What a waste of my time with those other dealers. Josh and Dan were 100% accurate on 1st try!! Josh and Dan also respected MY TIME and suggested that I go back to work and have Josh text/call me after they got the numbers ready. I got back to work and Josh called me with what turned out to be a great and fast offer. Other dealers played the game of throwing a very high offer on the table and then all the silliness of "what can I do to earn your business" or "what would you be willing to come up to today" I gave all the dealers "MY PRICE" walking in their showroom and what I was willing to sign for on the spot. Sunrise and Josh came within a few bucks of "MY PRICE" on their 1st offer. (so, to be frank, because Sunrise got within a few bucks of my price on the 1st try, I didn't even haggle with Sunrise any further). One sales manager at another dealer came in about $60 higher than Sunrise on their first "best price"...............I just literally laughed. He walked away multiple times, came back multiple times, each time telling me how they were losing money and what a great deal I was getting and that I couldn't get a better price somewhere else. I literally pulled out my wallet and challenged him to bet $100 that I could come back with a signed leased contract for another Traverse at the exact same MSRP vehicle and a $30-$40 better monthly price before the upcoming Saturday or before. He stammered ... "I"M NOT A BETTNG MAN" ......(lol). After about 45 minutes, he eventually got within a couple bucks of the Sunrise price but in the final analysis, I chose to drive all the way out to Sunrise (32 miles from my house) just on the principle that Josh and Dan did not waste my time. When I got to Sunrise on a Saturday morning for the pick up, the car and all the paperwork were ready and everything was done very quickly. My wife had to come in the next Monday (she was working on Saturday) and sign some of the paper work and she was also very happy. I really like my 2017 Silverado LTZ crew cab. It has the 420hp 6.2 engine and the 8 speed transmission. It has plenty of power for passing and towing, I get 22 mpg in all around driving. On the highway it is smooth and quiet, great acceleration.
The only negative is that the transmission occasionally bangs into gear at low speeds.

I just purchased a vehicle at Phillips Chevrolet 9700 West Lincoln Highway Frankfort, IL 60423 with Konrad Chatys on Saturday, 2/18/2017. Konrad and his team were nothing short of amazing from the moment I arrived into the dealership. I came by myself, very nervous, anxious and discouraged. I had just left Car Max where I was told that I would have to give them thousands of dollars for them to give me any service. Keep in my mind, I am driving 35/40 miles a day to work and was putting more money into my car on major maintenance (plus monthly payments), than enjoying my 2 yr old Nissan. From the moment Konrad introduced himself to me, he listened to every single concern, from my credit score, to having a car that was great on mileage, to even as small as the color I would like to drive in. ' I went from a dealership who wanted me to give them thousands of dollars for a USED car, to a dealership and a Product Specialist who accommodated for my circumstances with NO money down, not the best credit, reasonable car note PLUS a warranty, referred an insurance company AND payed off everything I still owed on payments, NOT TO MENTION, what was given for the car! I have told every single person who will listen, to go schedule an appointment with Konrad. I have never felt more safe and protected with a company, than I do with Phillips Chevrolet. They gave me advise on ways to increase my credit score and even other opportunities that will be available at a later date. Everyone greeted me with a smile and was willing to assist at any moment (regardless of the fast pace environment). As if that was not enough, I even received a call the next day to inform me that I left my reading glasses in my old car, AND they stayed after the closing time to accommodate for my crazy hospital shift! It's rare for a woman alone, to come somewhere and not feel taken advantage of, and for that I could never thank them enough. I cannot actually give a review on repairs, but with the warranty and customer service, I do not have a doubt that they will be able to point me in the right direction. The only thing that I was bummed about was my car window sticker. I did not think to ask for it, but I have received a ticket on my car because of it. So when you are trading your car be sure to take EVERYTHING lbs. BTW- I am not a robot,nor was I payed to do this survey (haha). I am just extremely impressed. THANK-YOU GUYS AGAIN!!!
