2021 Subaru Ascent review
7th Subaru for this Alaskan. This is the best I’ve ever had. Bought the Touring edition, new, & still blown away by the rig. Tested out with a cross country camping trip & comfort, adaptability, utilities, dependability - all a 5. Took a tent, but not even needed, w/firm foam to create a level, comfy bed area. Now I get why my cousin tried to replace his Ascent Touring with a Lincoln Navigator. Ended up selling the Nav to go back to an Ascent Touring. The first Sub I’ve had that Dad proclaimed ‘comfortable’ and ‘perfect’. I chose the Captains chairs for the 2nd seat, and passengers have loved the comfort & their view, as well as their controls, drink holders, etc. I love the options to simply control everything. Almost killed by a drunk driver long ago, I keep a very close eye on everything around me. Visibility in this rig is mind blowing. And that’s on top of all the cameras that monitor what’s happening. Safety features are perfect. Like listening to music, radio, podcasts? Sound in the Touring edition is heavenly. Very, very impressed with this rig.

2019 Subaru Ascent review
I really like the 2019 Subaru Ascent Limited. I only have a couple of problems. I get complaints from my teenage daughters that the third row seats are so uncomfortable. Not enough room they say. They love the room in my wife’s Honda Pilot more. Another thing that I could do without is the X-Term feature. I never use it and to use it you have to be going slow. I’m not taking my Ascent into the woods or driving in some desolate snowy terrain. Kind of seems useless for what a majority of drivers would really need, i.e. different driving modes instead (mud, snow, etc.)

2024 Subaru Ascent review
We test drove the Grand Hylander and the Kia and this was by far the best riding vehicle. We love the all-wheel drive and the comfort of the seats. Drives quiet and super smooth. We were also able to get the car for significantly less than the other two options.

2020 Subaru Ascent review
This car is spacious with very comfortable seating and many extra features that make me feel like I am riding in style. It came with a giant sun roof, clear bra, options for navigation and phone apps, choice of car mats (rubber or carpet) and rides so smooth. I love my new Subaru!!

2022 Subaru Ascent review
Great SUV. Very comfortable, Performance is acceptable. I am 6' 2" and I have plenty of leg room. Even have to move driver seat forward to drive. Auto adjust feature for driver seat is nice. Wish it included side mirrors also. Only drawback I find is the gas mileage. In this day of soaring gas prices it is a huge downside.

Such down to earth personalities, friendly, sincere, and helpful. I actually identified a vibration / wheel issue with this vehicle during the test drive. 2024 Subaru Ascent review
After a lot of time and research we started our journey with a new Subaru Ascent. We then test drove 4 other vehicles and I didn't have the same feeling as I did in the Ascent. We originally were looking at a 2025; however, there was a beautiful new 2024 Subaru Ascent and that was the one! There is more room, I like the head space since we have some taller people in the family. We don't really use the third row, but it has come in handy and I am pleased with that. We keep it down a lot. As far as driving this vehicle, I am very comfortable and happy with this. You get a smooth ride with it and the engine has pick up when needed. This is my first keyless car; however, we had to have the remote start, we got spoiled. With that we needed to subscribe to Subaru and it was a small fee for 5 years, but there is a lot you can do on your phone. I like the screen and how well you can see while in reverse. I like the placement of the screen. I'm 5'2" and I can handle this vehicle and I am confident. Being short I liked that I can almost "kiss" the front and I am not tight and I can see clearly. My husband is taller and you have 2 presets for the driver's seat. One thing is that they offer a "refresher" type appointment and we went. It was one person who took us through our vehicle and the features and any questions that we had were answered. Had the questions been more important, I would have called his number ahead of time.

2022 Subaru Ascent review
I'm still driving the 2019 Ascent with 56k miles. Other than a few recalls handled quickly, no issues whatsoever. Dependable, quiet, performance, comfort. I just had a loaner of the 2023 Ascent Touring model and I was amazed at the improvements. While I am keeping and love my 2019, the 2023 has improved handling, quieter, the transmission is certainly smoother and a solid and comfortable ride. Perhaps it has to due with the Touring model. I am not certain. I find my Subaru dealer to be honest, supportive and with an educated staff. This Ascent is large, which I enjoy immensely and without any family. The fit and finish is outstanding and the dash is quality components. No cheap plastic knobs or low grade materials. I would encourage you to test drive one today.

2023 Subaru Ascent review
This is my second Subaru Ascent. My first was the 2019, and when it came time that my son needed a car, we decided to pass that one on to him since I drive a lot and it had almost 100,000 miles on it. We went out and test drove other SUV's, and after doing so, decided on getting another Subaru Ascent because of how much I enjoyed the first one. The 2019 recall kinks seem to have been worked out in the 2023 model. What I can say about even the 2019 though is that the manufacturer stood behind the items that needed to be fixed, even replacing my whole transmission when the recall patch did not work correctly. We are now a Subaru family.

2022 Subaru Ascent review
We just traded our 2019 Ascent Touring, 52K miles (purchased used with 18K miles, and about 18 months old). We had no issues with the SUV. The turbo is just powerful enough to not worry about the power when needed. Interior held up very well to all the passengers, cargo, and 2 basset hounds as well. We're already sad and looking to get another one (we had downsized to Outback, but miss the big brute for many reasons, one of which is its interior space). I see some negative reviews here with brakes and other recall items, but somehow, we didn't experience either of those. Like I said, we're looking for another one, in hindsight we should've kept it. The only gripe I have is the poor tire choice by the Subaru, the original tires didn't last beyond 25k miles, replaced them with Continental tires and those should last the next owner for a while (originals were rated at 35k miles). Will update this post once we find a new one.

My 2019 Subaru Forester had some problems on 4/16/26 and every warning light on the dash started blinking! I made it to Byers Subaru on Sawmill, where I was warmly greeted by Trish Wolford, Service Advisor. She listened my story and asked Danny to put the mobile computer on it. Within minutes, they diagnosed some problems, reset the codes, and started the car. Then Danny suggested another thing he wanted to check and found the air intake hose was completely disconnected. Danny fixed it quickly and they didn't even charge me! The staff is friendly, polite, efficient, and this location is spic and span clean! I highly recommend Byers Subaru Dublin just off Sawmill Road. I'm a single female senior citizen and I was treated with respect. Every question was answered to my satisfaction. After a disappointing and costly experience with my previous 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross and a local dealer/Toyota Corporate (due to manufacturer defect), I was looking for a fresh start with another car maker. My journey with Safford Brown Subaru in Manassas started with some frustration—I drove an hour from DC for a vehicle I was told was available, only to find it wasn't there when I arrived. However, the way the team handled that initial setback is exactly why they deserve five stars. Instead of the typical "bait-and-switch" feeling, Habby (Sales) and Kayla (Manager) were incredibly professional and transparent. They worked hard to make things right, ensuring the rest of the process was smooth, low-pressure, and respectful of my time. The team truly listened to my needs and worked with impressive efficiency to locate a vehicle with my color and options preferences. They also prioritized my vehicle for a service fix to address a recent safety recall. I also appreciated their transparency regarding their 1.5% credit card fee; being able to put the entire car purchase on my AmEx for the rewards was a huge plus, and they were upfront about the cost from the start. Since I am coming from a difficult mechanical situation with my previous new car, I will be keeping a close eye on how this new hybrid in the Crosstrek line performs. I will provide an update to this review in 3-6 months to share how the vehicle is holding up. For now, if you want a team that values professionalism and honest pricing, ask for Habby and Kayla!
2026 Subaru Ascent review
Have had Ascent for 3 weeks. Have learned most of the controls. A couple of the safety features are annoying and have disabled them. Sound system is great! Ride and quietness are wonderful. Handling on mountain roads not quite as good as my 2014 Outback but still very good. Only real gripes are interior side of driver's door has sharp edges which bother my left knee in normal driving position and not as much room for personal glovebox junk as I had in my Outback. Gets overall about 22 mpg.

2025 Subaru Ascent review
First Subaru ever. Got the Ascent Touring onyx. Fully loaded. The handling is great. I love the all wheel drive. It is much zippier than my Toyota Highlander Hybrid. For the money, the safety equipment, and extras are worth it. I LOVE the auto vehicle hold! Never knew I needed it until I had it. I miss the mileage of my hybrid, but the amount I drive it is not too much of an overall ownership cost difference. The center counsel system is slow to react sometimes, and would like physical buttons. Otherwise I love the large screen. Happy that the shifter is actually a shifter not a button or knob. Love the rear view camera, and surround cameras for parking are good. App, is better than most, and facial recognition is great for seat, mirror adjustments and lifetime gas mileage!

2023 Subaru Ascent review
I recently traded in my 2022 Ascent for a similar 2023 model. The 2022 model had brakes issues/noises right from the beginning of ownership. Subaru gave me a great deal on the 2023 model. A number of improvement were found on the 2023 model. Obvious one is the exterior styling with new front grille, headlights and taillights. Interior improvements include updated Eyesight, quieter ride, better steering and brakes, larger multimedia screen including front and backup camera screens, driver profile system. A few other tweaks here and there, making the 2023 Ascent Touring a decent and very safe SUV. Not necessarily sporty or thrilling but perfect vehicle for commuting in town and long road trips.
